No but seriously, I envy people who can just talk about their champion all loosey goosey without the conversation turning into a ragefest of listing champion features and abilities.
Riven has had years of poor PR. As have a couple other champs. If you want to turn that around, you're going to have to do things that improve the image of the players that main that champion.
And no, this isn't just being a saint while playing Riven or saying stuff like "Hey, guys! I'm a Riven main that isn't ragequitting right now!". You're going to have to do some image repair. Maybe start streaming or unloading vids to youtube and be a positive influence on the community. BoxBox can only do so much by himself, and even he slips up and gets salty from time to time. Getting salty once in a while is fine for most other champ mains, but everyone is going to be more critical of a Riven main's behavior. You can't afford slip ups like that.
Worst comes to worst, do what the big companies do when they need to repair their image; bribe people. Everyone loves RP giveaways. A few years ago there was a thread that you had to post something creative in about Christmas and League, and five or six posters were randomly chosen and got sent RP codes. The same guy did these type of giveaways for three or four years in a row, and he was always welcomed to any threads he appeared in.

I honestly want to hear Riven tips because I cannot play her to save my life. I play her on my secondary "fun" account and even there "OMG, this Riven can't can't animation cancel," "nub riven," and I'll often see jungle camp my lane. Hell one game their mid Yasuo came up to screw me over.
This is just me, but I've really been trying to become decent enough with her (currently Level 5 mastery, but I got it mostly through playing her Jungle most games) because she was the first Champion I really enjoyed playing and would lead me to picking up Ahri. My friend bought her and the Redeemed skin for me back in late season 4 and after I fed hardcore on her never picked her up again.
Short of it: want to play her at an acceptable level in honor of my friend who's spent quite a bit on the game for me. Tried to pay her back in equal.

The only way to talk about Riven to other people without getting them triggered is this. Treat Riven like Yasuo, but with lesser mobility and more BS to deal with. There, I said it

The day Riven was released she was OP. After several nerfs she became not so popular but people still manage to complain. Basically her kit is good.
My issue with Riven is her skill floor and ceiling are astronomically far apart.
Play against a Riven who can't animation cancel? She's an extremely cluncky fighter who is probably easy to take down
Play against a Riven who can animation cancel? She's an extremely mobile assassin who can kill you in the small time her W and knock up give.
Like, I honestly can't think of another champion who's skill floor and ceiling are that far apart. Playing against a bad Riven vs a good Riven is almost like playing against 2 different champions
