Sion rework was a freaking masterpiece in every way. They kept all the salvageable parts of his character and turned it into something that's honestly better than any of the champs released in the past 2-3 years in both character and gameplay that lives up to the character. The most modern champ that can compete with him in this regard IMO is

from a lore standpoint, the old sion and new sion are actually separate entities, with old sion being a broken and imperfect "recreation" of the newer one with the newer sion needing the soul furnace to keep him animated, so theres actually nothing stopping them besides politics from existing in the same place at the same time.
