if you dont want to get triggered by those chest, dont make them a priority or a goal cause it will only dissapoint you
Ironically I got a skin shard for high noon Yasuo. Few weeks later I open a chest and BAM! Project burger-flipping Ashe.
Now I can show off to the people on the rift that I have cash when in reality I'm broke >:)
And this is about 4 weeks after getting dunk master darius.
So my advice to you...

I'm not even kidding, the last 4 or 5 chests all opened up to champion shards for me (let's also not count the other ones that opened up to summoner icons or ward skins that I don't care about).
I've given up already.
Am I the only one that has had god-tier luck with these chest? In the past year I've gotten DJ Soan, Pulsfire Ez and Dreadnought Darius - All champs I SUCK at so I guess that is Riot's way of spitting in my face XD
I have almost 4k orange essence with nothing to spend it on, because my last few chests have all been champ shards, with one of them being Alistar. At this point I'd be fine with one of the 390 skins, because at least it would be a change from getting champ shards over and over and over.
6 chests in a row ( I counted) I got skin shards. Only skin shards. I mean, I got to disenchant them into Omega squad Teemo, so there's that. But I really wanted champion shards
At least you get key frags to open chests lol
I think I'm pretty lucky with them, I've gotten Final Boss Veigar, Project: Ashe, and Death Blossom Elise all for free with the system.

If you don't own all champions, champion shards are actually really good. Sometimes I'm even more happy to get a champion shard rather then a skin one.
i got heaps of legacy shards, the thing is they aren't worth much orange essence and I kinda don't want to disenchant them because they're legacy yet I don't use 90% of the champs I got them for. white elephants, all of them.
Same deal here. Champion shards now stop. I have 9 champion shards since the update. All low costing ones too so they don't even give me any blue essence. Not to mention I already own all the champions o.o
Almost 100% of my chests have been champion shards or 750 skins, i legit have not got a skin over 1350
I can't be the only one who rarely ever gets champion shards, right? The vast majority of things I get from hextech chests are just skin shards.
I get decent mix. I got lunar cait from hextech and Secret agent mf. In 1 month. Over 2 months of playing i got quiet a few shards like these lol. As someone said earlier dont have a goal and you get better drops. Tbh at this point i want champ shards so i can buy 2 coins and get 4800champs and 6300 champs for cheaper.
So far what im having trouble with is getting keys. I havent got any keys for this month.
