If you read Swain's lore you'd know he was never in Ionia.

His rise to power seemed unceasing until he was suddenly relegated to inactive status prior to the Ionian Invasion - a bewildering decision which reeked of bureaucratic subversion.

That's the equivalent of a retired General asking for a Bombing Run in Turkey. Could they have asked at the time they were in the active military? Yes. Were they high enough rank to do so? Yes. Do they actually have the authority to authorize doing so now? No.

Being Retired, Honorably, Dishonorably, or even just being put on Reserve means that unless you are re-instated you lose the authority and command that rank gives you.

Huh? She bailed when she was betrayed by her own people. Although if you want to argue she wasn't betrayed so much as left for dead then fine... but still. Faulting her for fleeing an area being bombarded by the equivalent of an air strike is super unreasonable. Its a fictional character and all but by all accounts lorewise she's plenty Noxian. She didn't see launching a volley of artillery from a safe distance on both sides of a conflict as strength is all.

To be perfectly honest I've always thought of her as the one closest to Darius in martial prowess among Noxians... though there's admittedly no lore to back this up, just an assumption based on the fact that she seems to be some kind of prodigy among Noxian military.

I've seen people ship Riven x Darius because they supposedly have similar views about how Noxus should be, so I don't blame you for thinking she's close to his equal. It wasn't about her leaving Couer though, it was about her breaking her blade and not returning to her post. That's what makes Desertion. Running from an Air Strike is fine, why would you stand still when there are bombs raining on your head? Chemical Weapons aren't exactly something you go into a building to shield yourself from.

But it's not about that. It's about the fact Riven abandoned Noxus afterwards, broke her blade, and left. It's not a stigma that she survived by wisely escaping, it's about the fact she didn't come back afterwards. That's Desertion. That's what's wrong about her. She swore to rebuild Noxus from the outside in, but we're talking about one of two world Superpowers. An empire is not reformed from the outside by one single person, and Riven will find few sympathetic to her plight, especially with Swain in charge. She should have stayed, as Darius did, and work within the system. That's what makes her a Coward, and that's why she's not Noxian.

She's not reforming anything and she's not fighting the system in any meaningful way. Her 'Strength' is a facade, a lie she tells herself to comfort herself, because the truth is she's not that strong, or else she would have stayed, she would have fought the whole war and the Civil War, and eventually work her way up the ladder and then change the system herself.

Fair enough. I admittedly didn't think of it that way. Her still 'loving Noxus' but not technically putting herself in any position to change it is indeed a major character flaw. Whether that's a result of cowardice or ignorance I haven't a clue. Its a shame I've never finished writing a novel length story before, it's definitely an interesting fanfiction idea to correct that flaw. Too bad I've got a bad habit of writing half a story then letting it rot on my hard drive for years never to see the light of day.

EDIT: Slightly off topic but just felt the need to say that for some reason the thought of Riven and Darius being paired made me gag a little. Haha. Not that I particularly ship any LoL pairings but something about it seems so... unsettling.

Irelia needs to balance her health in order to make use of her stun (which I honestly think could use a nerf but still) her ultimate is nowhere near as broken as Riven's AD Scaling Conal Execute. Irelia's kit (aside from the stun) is fine where it is. Riven meanwhile, can go 0/5 in lane with 50 CS, get two kills, and suddenly become impossible to duel.

Destroy and kill are different. A destroyed army doesn't have to be killed, it simply needs to have it's morale destroyed, take it's fighting spirit, because at that point the strategic value of an army is destroyed. And yes, the Ionian lores do need to chill out.

Noxia, the paragon of true strength that punishes the weak by nature is the cannon fodder in every lore based on massacre (except aatrox, he is too old for these shits)

???? wtf? Irelia's ulti is extremely powerful in it's own right. It downright makes the bitch impossible to duel, and that's why Irelia is still extremely competitive and can shred your ADC with one offensive item. Also I'm not sure what game you're playing but every 0/5 Riven I've seen has remained useless for the entire game. She's feast or famine by her very nature, that's how she works.

I do agree through nerf the stun to like 1.25/1.5 at max rank and she's fairly balanced.

One word: Stun

There's a reason Riven hates the irelia matchup. The stun is so damn long it doesn't matter if you ulti because with a sheen Irelia can kill you before it ends. Also:

Irelia R level 1: AOE 320 damage + (60) = 360 damage. And that's generously assuming irelia has 100 AD. She also heals for 90. IF she isn't fighting in minions.

Riven R level 1: 240 + (54) = 294. And that's assuming 30 extra AD. Yeah she does way more damage.

So are Aatrox, Trundle, and Jax. Different champions are different, of course, but being a duelist doesn't necessarily mean you should be so difficult to escape and have insane defensive and offensive capabilities when used properly.

I'm actually ambivalent to Riven--and, low ELO that I am, consistently beat her with Aatrox--but, again, "being a duelist" doesn't necessarily excuse all the nuttiness a half-brained Riven player can do.
