What if Support skills were buffed and

Halved when cast on yourself. (or an other percentage of the base) I'm talking about soraka basic spell heal, lulu shield and janna shield mostly. Those 3 champs are/were considered toxic in a solo lane because of the mix of offense and defense skills and are considered weak as supports.

Help, Pix!

SHIELD STRENGTH: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+ 60%AP) => 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+ 80%AP). The shield is halved when cast on yourself.

Astral Blessing

HEAL: 70 / 120 / 170 / 220 / 270 (+ 35%AP) = > 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+ 40%AP). SALVATION - MAXIMUM HEAL: 105 / 180 / 255 / 330 / 402.3 (+ 52.15%AP) => 120 / 202.5 / 285 / 367.5 / 450 (+ 60%AP). The heal is halved when cast on yourself.

Eye Of The Storm

SHIELD STRENGTH: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+ 70% AP) => 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+ 90%AP). The shield is halved when cast on yourself.

I don't touch their ultimate because they have a longer cooldown and I don't think that make them so annying to deal with.

It's just an idea but with the increase of the lulu mid and soraka solo lane that are considered toxic, I think something need to be done. And as support they could use the buff.

I fully support this type of idea.

No one likes to admit it, but support kits are very difficult to balance. The sheer utility can make them overwhelming. Nerf them to keep them out of solo lanes and their ability to support also takes a hit. If Riot wants to fix the never ending problem, they will have to do something like this and weaken self-cast effects. At the same time, they could buff the effectiveness on allied champions since support shield are currently very underwhelming outside of the laning phase to try to weaken their solo-laning capability.

Once upon a time Soraka could give mana to herself for free. Obviously that made her sustain in solo lane insane, so she can no longer cast it on herself. I think this is definitely something that can be done to help supports stay relevant and not be bad for the game when played in other lanes.

Although, honestly, I don't think Lulu has ever been necessarily weak as a support. Her mid lane was just reeeeeeally good, and I would argue that she can still be played bot lane to great effect even after her recent nerfs. Only time will tell if they nerf her further and she goes the way of Janna...

I don't think that is the right way to go, it would either make those champs pretty vulnerable as supports, or not realy hurt there sololane viabillity, and i also don't think that supports shouldn't be allowed as sololaners, it ads more variation to teamcomps.

Lulu would work on a sololane even without shield, thx to her easy to apply harras and waveclear + insane roaming with the probably strongest speedbuff in the game and strong cc on top.

Soraka would get obliterated as support, as shes shortranged, got no mobillity, no movement impareing cc and no tankiness, if she couldn't heaal herself efficiently, any leona(or other engage) E landed on a soraka would probably be a kill(same for sona)

The problem with supports on sololanes is not that they are to strong in lanes, but that there kits allow massive roaming and the utillity scales insanly well into teamfights. If a support gets to strong on a sololane, it needs some general tweaks.

I personally think that shields need nerfs/changes, shield based combos are pretty insane if pulled of well, as any champ in the team can turn into a tank if focused.
