Why does every udyr whom I see go phoenix stance?

I have been picking up udyr as my main jungler, and while I get great results maxing tiger stance then bear and turtle, it seems that every other udyr I see in games, maxes phoenix stance.

Could someone explain how the phoenix stance aoe eclpises the attack speed boost from tiger?

Better clear time largely. Tiger clears the buff mobs and Wight faster yes, but Wraiths, Wolves and Golems, yours and the enemy jungle's will be burned down faster. The decent base damages also allow you to build tanky and still have some damage presence.

So all in all, tiger maxing is great for damage heavy Udyr jungles and Pheonix is better for tanky/utility udys, and I'll be the first to admit tank Udyr is consistently easier to play. At least in my experience. Both are viable options imho though, depending on the comp of the rest of your team.

Phoenix is better for more rounded play and any ap you get goes to your shield too. Tiger is better if you need to invade or fight invades.
