You are wrong. After meeting the requirements, go to http://promo.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/shurima/story/index.html#rewards Click the redeem button, and you will see your icons.

They really need to make it clearer that the icons aren't rewarded the same as before.

Has anyone had a problem where the webpage shows that you have at least one victory in the Recent Matches area, yet the big number says 0/5 and it is clearly a contradiction? Kinda frustrating that I can't redeem my victories for the icons.

Even if you don't use the website to redeem the icons manually, you will still get them at some point. Riot will do a sweep after the event is over, to award the icons to anyone that forgot/didn't know how to redeem them.

wait, this is a thing? question is, are icons even worth playing this game more than once. i will need time to asses this.
