@Xelnath @Statikk Can We Talk About Lulu?
Hey people. Just wanted to drop in an say a couple things about the recent changes to Lulu. To jump straight to the point, she doesn't feel like she performs well as support for those Lulu's that rank up E first. I have been playing Lulu since her release, and have played her many different ways and have found that in solo queue ranking E is usually better than Q. It was fun and tactical to have the option to rank up Q or E depending on the situation, but now Q is the only choice. Here is why I preferred ranking up E:
- It is more consistent than Q, since it's a targeted ability.
- It does more single target damage than Q.
- Allows me to rank up Shield.
- Useful for marking stealth targets I.E (Vayne, Twitch, etc.)
Disadvantages of ranking E?
- When used offensively, you lose your defensive power, unlike if you rank up Q.
- Can't hit multiple targets like Q.
- You have to get closer in order to use E on a champion, putting you in more danger.
- It has a higher mana cost.
I ranked Q when I wanted to push the lane, was in a 2v1 situation, or went against Cait or Ashe since their ranges are higher than E range. The E playstyle for Lulu is what I learned to love her with, and the nerfs on live not only destroy this playstyle, but do little to curb mid Lulu's power until lvl 8 (where she has already won her lane by that time.)
There are a couple ways to nerf Mid Lulu without having to take away E's damage.
- Lower Damage AP ratios, up Utility AP ratios (Or bases)
- Do the Lee Sin shield treatment to Lulu (not verbatim, but you get the idea.)
What I am also interested in, is Riot's position on double Q. With 4 seconds on pix, it makes double Q impossible, but would it be so bad if Lulu had to achieve near max CDR to do it? If Pix stayed for 5 seconds, you would need about 35% CDR in order to reliably double Q. Sure, you could try to get this through runes and masteries, but you have to give up damage and defense for it. Also, I am still on board with the idea that Lulu's E on an ally should last 5 seconds as well to compensate for any changes. Right now with max CDR, it has 100% up time.
Anyway, that's all I got for now, unless either of you have questions. Lulu just doesn't feel the same when the only choice I have is to max Q, which isn't the best option in all situations in solo queue. Sure, LCS players max Q first, but that's because Lulu is often involved in 2v1 lanes. Even if she isn't, pushing power is highly valued in LCS, and Q would always be ranked up first regardless. This isn't the case in solo queue. I hope you could reconsider the E damage nerf changes, its makes Lulu and I sad :(
@Xelnath @Statikk @Xypherous (Since you made Lulu and all :D)
