So, I'm approaching the higher levels and trying to improve my knowledge of the game as far as numberwise, but something that keeps tripping me up is that some scales are for AD and some are for Bonus AD. I'd like to know the difference to help with building for champs, like Draven, who have abilities that scale for Bonus AD. So, what is the difference and how is it applied?
Attack Damage is the combined values of your base AD and the AD you get from items.
Bonus Attack Damage is the combined AD you get from items and buffs specifically.
As for how it's applied, I'm not sure what you mean. :D
Attack Damage = the blue + green numbers when added together. This is shown in your little stat area by your champ portrait.
Bonus Attack Damage = just the Green numbers in that area.
As for how it gets applied normally it most abilities that scale off AD come from bonus AD such as things like buying items/runes/masteries. There are some abilities that do scale of total AD such as Draven's Q whereas his E and R are off of Bonus AD.
A good idea to learn what ability scales off of what is to go to guide sites such as mobafire. Just hover over an ability and it should say if it is based off of Total or just bonus stats.
Base attack damage is ONLY what you get from your starting stats and from leveling up. Runes, masteries, items, and buffs give bonus AD.
Base attack damage is what you get from your base stat and level ups. Bonus attack damage is what you get from items, runes and masteries. Attack damage is the sum of these two and is the number that you see on your screen all the time.
