Who is Aatrox?

Guys, I don't understand if Aatrox is earlygame, midgame or late game. If Aatrox is a real tank, or Riot called it tank because its Q. His ability costs health flat, big cooldown, low base damage and good CC. I play Aatrox, but I don't really understand his mechanics.

Well, all I know is that I've faced about ~3 good Aatroxes until now, and they all were good early, mid and late game, since they all had >2 attack speed.
Seriously, this one Aatrox with (what felt like) 2,5 attackspeed and endless life steal managed to 1v4 our CC heavy team comp and walk away with almost full health.
So I'd suggest building him Attack Speed + Lifesteal and I fear he's an all rounder, who's good at all game stages (though it does seem more logical that he falls off late game, since his blood well isn't as good then, and since he can be kited then).

He can be built as a melee adc or a tank bruiser. It's however you want to play him or what you need in that specific game I think.

Aatrox is up there as one of my favorite champions. I play him as a jungler because of how adaptable he is. He can become a monstrous drain tank or become a carry. I'd say he's more mid-late game but his early ganks are really good due to his E; not many melee junglers have that kind of poke. My last game with him I went 17/3/17 with him while having two defensive items and three offensive items. I fed our bot lane beyond belief and they snowballed it to a win. I'd recommend checking out Stonewall008's guide on Aatrox. He does a really good job of explaining his adaptability as a jungler.

I use Aatrox as one of my main top lane champions, i have tryed him in the jungle, it works, but it wasnt my style, but i should try him again, but since i only know about him on top lane i will only talk about top lane.

Aatrox can be built as any of the 3 meele roles and still be useful, you can build him as an assassin, if you go full damage, as a tank, if you go full defensive, or in the middle, with a bit of damage and defensive, being the "middle (fighter) what you will do in the majority of your games. Your build is decided by 2 things, first, how you are doing in the lane, if you are behind, you will have to start with defensive items (raundins or spirit visage) and if you are ahead you can start with the damage items (blade of the ruined king or ravenous hydra, depending on your enemy). Past that point, it depends on you team, if you have a fighter or a tank on the jungle or a support tank you can build some more damage, but if your team doesnt have any other tank, you might end up having to go full tank, and believe me, this will happen more often than you think.

About him being early, mid or late game, he was made to be a late game champion, but from my experience, he is strong in the early, mid and late, while never being exceptionally strong or weak, his late game is weaker than that of a jax or irelia, but his early game is stronger, and his early game is weaker than that of lee, but his late game is stronger.

Hope i helped

Thank you about your opinions. I compared Blood Well poll with his health and his scaling health base. So, his blood well is 15% at level 1, and 0.43% at level 18. Seems like best way to gain blood well in early are spam spell and in late game just W is you build he like a melee carry. W become strong with attack damage and attack speed.

I will try to build him with: brutalizer, zephyr, ravenous hydra, bortk, GA and maw of malmortius. I don't really lik play him like a tank.

Aatrox can be almost anything you want. Aatrox tanky top works pretty well, he can also go almost full ad and still be a monster. Assassin aatrox mid works well, and has surprising burst. And I have tried aatrox support, and the heavy cc with his q and e works very well for initiation and peeling

Aatrox is one of the first champs I really got into. I've found he is extremely versatile.

I personally believe he was originally developed to be a lane duelist and to operate in top lane and even mid lane. With the new patches and game style, Aatrox is highly situational based on opponent and your skill with the champ.

Bottom line is he is very versatile. Can be a tank, off tank, or melee ADC/Assassin. He can play any lane, and any role.

What kind of gameplay suits you? I'm more of a top lane or support kinda guy. I keep Aatrox as part of my toplane rotation.
