My opinion on the Kha'zix nerfs (not a rage thread)
OK, this is a repost of my thread over on GD because lets be honest all the cool people are over here and it's more likely to get decent discussion instead of fanboy rage at my opinion, also I've never posted on community Beta before so hi and sorry if this is in the wrong section. Anyway, here it is.
Now before I start, I'm not a Kha'zix main, this is purely my analysis of why his nerfs were deserved.
His Q is probably the only skill I can disagree with nerfing, seeing as isolation damage was a key part of his kit (though admittedly not very used since he could kill you without needing it) so nerfing the damage he dealt to isolated targets does confuse me.
Evolved Q makes more sense to hit kit with the increased isolation damage (he's meant to catch people out who are isolated and kill them) and given the 2.6 AD ratio on those isloated targets he can still assassinate quite fast on the enemy squishy (as long as they're isolated), he just has to play to his intended gimmick of hunting for isolated targets instead of just jumping in and attacking till they died from the execute. The execute being removed means he can't jump into a 5v5 and just kill the first person who gets low, he now has to wait for the perfect opportunity to go in on an isolated target for the kill before jumping out to safety.
Evolved R was too good for any assassin to have, it provided too much hidden power (get it? since he's in stealth it's hidden) in the form of tankiness, %50 damage reduction while stealthed is too much for an assassin and provided very little for opponents to do anything against him while in stealth, adding to that the fact that he can cast it 3 times and each cast lasted 2 seconds for a total of 6 seconds of taking half of what you should take, if you got caught out at low hp you could just ult and leave and even if you were hit unless the person who hit you was fed you won't die and that's if you don't use your leap to escape either.
Putting it into perspective, Braum, the most recently released champion's E (unbreakable) provided %40 damage reduction at max level and only lasted 4 seconds, sure the argument there is that his E can be used to protect team mates by taking hits for them, but that doesn't change the fact that an assassin was allowed to have 6 seconds of taking %50 reduced damage and a tanky support was given less % reduction and less time to use it.
With both insane damage reduction and a %hp based execute he was able to initiate a fight and clean up the fight which is not what an assassin should be able to do, they're supposed to have to choose when to go in for the fight to kill as many of the enemy squishies as they can, an assassin that goes in first is a dead assassin, Kha'zix should have to choose weather to jump in when a target becomes isolated (playing to his gimmick) to quickly kill them before jumping out, or flank around to just catch out the enemy backline while his team runs distraction.
TL;DR his execute provided no counterplay and allowed him to build tanky while still being able to clean up a fight and is ult helped him do too many things an assassin should never be able to do. His new playstyle revolves significantly more around catching out and killing isolated targets which is what he was supposed to be doing in the first place.
