Increase Zoom Out on Fixed Camera View

Quoting Ghostcrawler from the Add-Ons Thread:

"one of those values (core design values) is very relevant to this thread so I do want to touch on it briefly. Specifically, we want you to focus on fighting your opponents, not the game. We want the skill component to be whether you make the right decision given appropriate earned information." (Emphasis added is mine.)

So does this means we can get a more zoomed out camera in locked camera mode? If remembering timers is not considered a skill why is moving the camera around in lane a skill?

That's the definition of fighting the game (which offers a poor automated camera and a UI which favors blue over purple for locked camera users) instead of fighting the opposition.

Thank you for your consideration.

Camera zoom has a huge impact on the feel of the game. I've dabbled around a little in DotA 2, and the significantly increased camera zoom there makes ranges feel extremely excessive, and other characters turning up much more of a surprise. If you zoom out the camera, this will feel like it slows down the game, weakens abilities, and gives people a lot of extra warning on ganks.

Also, having the camera more zoomed out on locked mode than unlocked would have unintended consequences. Speaking as someone who has never really played with locked camera, I find that camera mode dizzying and confusing, especially on higher mobility champions. If I were forced to play it because I have better access to information there, that would be a very negative experience for me.

I'll second this. I toggle camera lock selectively but most of the time, it's locked. The prevailing wisdom is "don't use locked camera" so I guess it's one of the things holding me back. It makes me cross, however, that there is a "right way" to control the game.

Unlock your camera. It's really not that hard. Unlocked camera does not favor either side of the game. Rather, you should play with your champion towards the edge of the screen, not the middle. That is going to be your downfall every time. If you were able to zoom out your camera, it would provide a significant advantage due to being able to see more of the game field at one time.

I don't know why players can't zoom farther out. I think that it would make it easier to aim skillshots like nid spear or use noc/panth/xerath ulti without losing your champ. I don't see a downfall to it because you still wont see in the fog of war. I think that it would eliminate some of the power of blue side. I don't want it to be just attached to locked camera mode though.

You wouldn't want to use it all the time, because not every champ needs that, and it would make last hitting in lane a little trickier

It favors blue over purple even in unlocked. This is cool, I like this. Sometimes when I'm lazy or I'm in any sort of big or moving fight (because I need my mouse in a position to aim my skills) I just use unlocked. I could start playing Orianna more again! :D Or I could just get one of those fancy left hand peripherals (replacing the WASD and stuff) but it looks like Riot is maybe removing functionality of that for some stupid reason.

I agree whole heartedly. While I am a locked player, one huge problem which I bet even unlocked run into is players who try to run pokey champs who just kite from within the HUD in order to get free attacks in. This shuts down champs like Udyr, Pantheon, etc whose damage relies on "auto-fire" attacks (like Panth's Q).

Not only that, but really, it REALLY hurts ADCs. I've become so used to locked, I can't really GET USED to Unlocked, and as someone said: when you got to add flicking your mouse every 3 seconds it gets even worse.
