Riot's New Grading System: A Little Harsh?

Every since the new Champ Mastery update, the grading system seems much stingier. I had an 11-1 Irelia on my team last night not get an S, and then today I had this game:

Playing Soraka I was 0/0/13. (My team was 23/8/31.) I healed for over 10k, and the enemy team did around 30k damage (> 30% total damage dealt by enemy was healed by me.) I assisted in all the dragon takes, and all tower captures but 1. (Top lane is far.)

The end result of the performance above was an A-.

Is it not possible to get an S in a game that your opponent surrenders @ 20? Because I'm not certain what else I could have done in the time allotted to better that score. (There was an 8/0/2 Yas and a 6/1/7 Vayne on my team who also did not receive an S rating.)

At the end of the day this isn't a big deal, I guess I'm mostly just curious. Are the grades meted out on raw numbers? So the longer the game goes the higher everyone's rating goes?

Ward, ward as much as physically possible, i have found that helps greatly.

it compairs your proformance on the champ in that roll to the average for that region so i dont think its un fair at all since its much easier to get pentas on katarina then nami for example.
