MackleDoge1 votesI wouldn't say they are unusable per-say, just a very small niche pick that you have to be really good to use effectively. AP Sion mid can work, same with Urgot as ADC, jungle, or even a tank-ish bruiser top. It's just kind of hard since you're at a disadvantage because of the kits of the champions.

They're still usable. They may not be the same but you can still win with them, and people still play them. Look back at some early Eve changes, everyone played Eve, she got the nerf stick like she needed and most everyone stopped playing her... but she was still played and she still won. After the rework again she is now played more.
I still play Urgot,and Sion, and I still enjoy playing them. I may actually play Kass now because I was in the minority of players that hate to play as Kassadin and I like most of his changes (I know, no-one else does.)

Krypton11 votesKassadin was the first champ everyone told me to play, and I lost. I lost horribly. I lost repetitively. I just couldn't get my head around how he worked, and I knew it was because I'm just not good with quick bursting. The thing I hated the most? The silence. That ability could break teamfights and I always felt horrible using it. even though I would be losing on Kassadin one silence and I'd turn a teamfight for our team.
I like the new mechanic of interrupting channeled spells, first thing I thought of was how this now makes him a thought out counter pick instead of "**** you I'm a counter to everyone". The ult changes are also nice, I can't tell you how many teamfights I've lost because a Kass wasn't willing to come in without more stacks, engages shouldn't be reliant on what a Kassadin wants.

MackleDoge1 votesJax has counters and can be shut down early game without much difficulty, it just requires solid mechanics and patience. Forcing him to group with his team so they don't lose objectives and a bunch of fights 4v5 effectively shuts down his split push potential.
And for the record, everyone can get dumpstered in a game, including "champs like you" so let's try to avoid the needless insults and keep the conversation relevant to the topic.

MackleDoge1 votesUnfortunately, the only one out of those that I can actually play well is Kha'Zix and Jax, both of which are also probably the easiest. My recommendation would be a lot of mechanical practice for Sion, Urgot, and Ahri, and for Jax/Kha'zix watch some streams on Twitch, because they are popular and will most likely be played and explained by those high tier streamers.
Krypton11 votesSion has some amazing AD potential. I use him top against a slow poke champ (something like Mundo, or Nid, possibly a Nasus) and I work on getting sustain first not damage. Honestly he only shines late game though so if you have a lane that loses you'll not be strong enough to handle the midgame teamfights.

I agree with the Kassadin part of this, I'm really sad with how they've changed him, mainly it just feels like he isn't even an anti-mage anymore, it doesn't even feel like I'm playing anything unique or fun.
They've already stated they are working on Sion (it's currently in internal testing I believe) so that is receiving some progress and they've mentioned Urgot needing attention sometime in the future, pretty sure he was mentioned on the list of champions receiving help this year.
As far as Ahri is concerned, I really don't feel like she is as weak as people make her out to be. She definitely isn't the strongest mid right now, but she is far far away from being the weakest. She can still have a huge impact on the game, farms really well and can participate in seiging and trying to get catches as well as can play the role of a mobile split push in the team composition.

MackleDoge1 votesI don't know man that's strange, because I see him banned pretty often, and you don't ban things you don't fear or think you can handle. How have you been trying to build him? What's your rune page look like? What skills are you upgrading in what order with your ult? Maybe you're missing something or making a few mechanical issues?
As far as your team, ignore them and play your game. Do what you can to help them in lane so that they at least go even, keep track of objectives and how people are farming, make sure to ping when you see the enemy jungler no matter what the situation, and make sure to ward your own jungle or the enemies camps so you can keep track of their progress. You can't control your teammate's attitudes or feelings, but you can make sure it doesn't effect yours and that your attitude stays positive.
aaronautumn1 votesI disagree with your original post that Kassadin was nerfed because of "bronzies". He was banned practically every game even in platinum. I don't think he was op though. But also I think it's too early to say if he's in a bad spot like Urgot or Sion. When they reworked Katarina and Eve most people's first reaction was to say that they were "unplayable" and a bunch of other stuff. It was only a month later that people adapted and learned how to play them. Once people experiment with him more they may discover that he's not that bad.

in most games he plays, I countered Kassadin, and thought he was severely overrated because of that (still thought the nerf on his ultimate was necessary though). However, in my opinion,

are overpowered. I certainly wouldn't bat an eye if they got Olaf'd the next day. However, I would agree that over-nerfing is a problem (you forgot some champions 
[besides her spears] 
), and the better option would be to buff champs that have gotten Olaf'd to oblivion (still waiting on Planky's rework for his new E and a non-sucky ultimate).
