My Team Builder thoughts

With the NA Team Builder beta ending, I wanted to leave some feedback. I've been playing this game for 3+ years, 80+% of that normals with a mix of dom/co-op/ranked/aram in descending order

Team Builder is probably the thing I've been the most excited about in League of Legends. If this, some evolution of it for draft/ranked, and replays were released, I almost wouldn't be able to recognize the game.

I loved Team Builder. I loved being able to skip out on all the champ select whining and disappointment of "last pick, you're support." And support is one of my two best roles. I still don't like being forced into it. I loved being able to say, "I want to play Diana" . . . and then doing it without any complaints in lobby or fighting over pick order/call order or just feeling like somebody got the short end of the pick order stick.

Normally I play around 2 games of League of Legends a day. Over the two days of Team Builder, I played 13 games. I can't promise that would stick long term, but I'd play at least twice as much League if it was Team Builder.

I went 9-4 and queued up for every type at least twice (2-2 top, 1-1 jungle, 3-0 mid, 2-0 ADC, 1-1 support if you must know). If I wanted to play mid, I was more willing to accept champions in other roles that I'm not as fond of (say, Shaco jungle) because I knew it could be awhile before I found another group. When I played support, I was a lot choosier, and it felt good to have the power to choose when and whom I support.

I pretty much stuck to meta champions/compositions. I didn't play anything that was too dicey. Nothing against the innovators/hipsters--I lost to a 3-mid/no jungle team, but I was trying to practice for ranked. I never had a queue longer than 10 minutes, which was on the long side, but worth it.

** Observations:**

-I only had 2 games where somebody was bm. Out of an admittedly small sample size, in-game toxicity was considerably lower. A bigger notice was that people seemed a lot friendlier.

-Teambuilder's matchmaking was worse than normal games. I expected that from the beta, but in one game, there was a team where their worst guy was Plat 5, and we had a bunch of golds/silvers/unranked. Yeah, yeah, normal elo. Just something to work on.

-It'd be nice to be able to let the captain change unfilled roles. I played one game where we had a mid Galio. That's great. I love mid Galio--but I had set the jungle to tank. With a tankier mid, it would have been nice to open that up to fighter or assassin jungle.

-The champion icons on team builder is screen are a little screwy. Lux's creeper eyes still give me nightmares.

-Team Builder is awesome, Rito is awesome for making it, and if you happened to forget to turn it off for NA, I don't think many people would mind.

-I'd largely stop playing Normal Draft and Dominion if Team Builder was live. I never play Normal Blind Pick now and I only use Dom to practice mechanics.

-I did notice more DC's in Team Builder. Not sure if that was due to overall stability issues.

Thanks again! Team Builder was a great experience for me.

^^ i like what this guy said lol I am a new player and I really enjoyed it! being new I want to play the champions i want.. in the lane i want. I dont mind learning new champs but id rather do it in a co-op vs AI map. It really is a bummer to just know your holding back and dragging down your team. And im sure a few ppl end up DCing themselves or leave the game due to not playing well cause they didnt get to the champion and lane they wanted. And you know, when your learning that new champion sometimes thats all you want to play for a few games. Im sad to see it go so soon and hope it comes back.. I almost dont even want to play now that ive experienced it! Time to go back to having 3 adc in the game all fighting over bottom lol

I am a total noob (I have only been playing for about a month) - but I really liked the team builder. I just wanted to add my comments.

It was really nice picking who I wanted to be and where I wanted to play before the game even started - because I can only play a few champions I have gotten stuck before playing someone I don't play well in regular pvp and then yelled at by my team.

I also found that the players all seemed nicer in teambuilder. No one was making fun of me for being a noob- we just all worked well together to win:)

Thank-you and I am really hoping you will bring this back.

Please bring team builder back. First day after team builder has been removed things are already back to annoying in draft. People fighting pregame, 5 ppl dodge before i actualy even get into a game. I can't stress how much negative energy was removed (or masked, i don't even care) by adding this simple beta to the game.

I have never seen people so pleasant pregame before. I honestly felt like the people that were playing team builder legitimately wanted to work together, and win as a team.

I beg you riot to implement this team builder mode full time, it is one of the best things you guys have ever released.

Loved Team Builder, skipping all of the QQ champ select bullshit was fantastic and a lot smoother on games in general. Like the op said, the games seemed friendlier and rarely but it did happen was the bm players.

Can't wait to play more when this is finally released, soon? Hopefully. Worst part about league is the people you get grouped with, being a free game you get the nasty of the nasty, the scum that just want to watch the world burn and ruin it for all. :)

Ugh, I'm already going through team builder withdrawals. Tried playing normals last night and had a couple games that went well, and then two games I queue dodged. The first had an AD Kennen (no thanks) and the second had a top Shaco and a jungle Soraka. You want to play those things, fine, but I shouldn't be punished for not wanting to play with that. Team Builder can't come back fast enough.

Did any of you guys try more unorthodox picks (something like Shaco mid, Fiora bot, etc.)? I had a great time with Team Builder, but I was playing mostly meta picks. I'm curious if people picking less accepted things had difficulty finding teams?

Team Builder is the greatest thing that has happened to League of Legends since I have started playing. Some people are gonna disconnect and be generally negative anyway so even if you get a troll in your game, at least you still end up with the lane and roll you wanted.

I agree with everything you said. I'm a player of a year and a half now and Team Builder made me fall in love with the game again. I felt like my win percentage went through the roof because I didn't have to deal with people picking Teemo supports or Blitzcrank mid. It really simplified the process and made the games SO much more enjoyable for me.

PLEASE GET IT IN PERMANENTLY SOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Here are my thoughts about the team builder.

Everyone here pretty much said everything I wanted to say. I am glade this community sees this useful. I think the best part about this is the function where yo can make your team build by selecting EXACTLY what you want in your team. It really does reduce the hate and encourages more friendly plays in the game and I find that to be VERY important.

I stopped playing rank because It's hard for me to get in to a game and try to keep the peace. even when you are not the problem or not caught in an argument. I really hope Riot will make this new game set up for ranked. some how still with draft pick.

My theory is that they're doing this beta thing before full release as a psychological tactic: They give us a taste of TB, then throw us back to the normal draft wolves for a while so by the time TB actually release, we're dying to play it =)

Loved it hope to see it soon

I'd like to reiterate your DC's point. I also felt like I had more DC's than usual in Team Builder. Granted, I got to play less than 10 games, so it's not a huge dataset, but still, seems like somethings up.

Team builder gets an A+ in my book. Just being prepared for the role you are going to get in a solo que is nice. A little longer que time is a small price to pay to play the game you wanted. Last note, I also noticed the player base had a better attitude. That was refreshing.

I'm all for making Team Builder a full game mode, ranked or not. I don't have to fight to get the positions I want, I don't have to rush to come up with an idea of how to play because I'm forced to play a position I'm bad at and unprepared for. All around it's much more relaxing and easy to get into the game because I'm not worried about someone getting their feelings hurt over the position they want or trolling because there was an argument in champ select over who goes where.
