Orianna Ball range indicator for allies carrying the Ball.

All right, so I'm not usually on Community Beta, but in the spirit of trying to be open-minded or maybe I just think I have a better chance of getting a Red post here, I have a suggestion to make.

Currently, Orianna gets a range indicator drawn when she places the Ball on an ally that tells her the tether range. However, if the ally doesn't know Orianna's tether range and suddenly jumps forward, then the Ball can snap back to Orianna at the most inopportune moments. Given that being a Ball-carrier is a shared positioning responsibility for both players, I was thinking it might be a good idea to give some help out to the carrier, especially if they don't know the tether range.

As a personal example, I was recently duo-queued with a friend. I was Orianna and he was Wukong, and he was going to carry the Ball. We were gearing up for a teamfight. I know Wukong's Nimbus Strike range and made sure to keep myself close enough that he could Nimbus Strike and keep the Ball on him, using my handy Ball tether range. I didn't want to stay much closer because they had a lot of poke damage.

He saw them clump up and immediately used Nimbus Strike and Flash to close the gap for Cyclone. I followed up with a Shockwave/Dissonance, but because I hadn't anticipated his Flash, the Ball snapped back to me as the Flash carried him beyond the leash range. I combo'd my own feet, we lost the teamfight despite his great 4-man Cyclone since we had no follow-up from me, and since it was our final stand, the game as well.

After the game, I asked him if he played Orianna. He said no. I asked him if he knew the Ball's range and he had no idea. Even though we were on comms and had played together, it was hard to coordinate that.

Would it be helpful for players who get the Ball to also see the same tether range indicator that Orianna sees? I personally think it would be, but I haven't exactly done a comparative analysis on it.

What do you guys think?

Cool idea. I'll let the right people know about it.

Yes, for sure. It's really annoying when people even flash out of my ball range as orianna while I ult and then they get angry that I 'missed my ult.' This happens rarely but when it does it wastes my ulti and gives people an opportunity to be toxic. Of course, oftentimes to avoid this, I just use Q like normal to position the ball but it takes out a fun way to use her ultimate.

already thought about Starting a thread about it, it would Realy be extremly helpfull for playing with oriana, can't count how often i had this ball on me, landed a 4-man malph(or other aoe) ult and wondered why there was no followup ult, but the ball returned to ori cause i moved slightly to far away from her with my ult.

Yup, I agree. Otherwise you're just left with an extremely awkward moment of, "What the derp just happened?" hehe...

I actually played a game with an Ori since reading this, and I was carrying the ball.

Thanks to this thread I knew to stay within range of Ori so she could use it properly.

Thanks a lot!

Its an okay idea, but as an Orianna main...I'd honestly just assume have Orianna keep track of her ball, its kinda her responsibility, and you really shouldn't be relying on teammates to help you position your ball for ults IMO. But tl;dr I don't care eitherway

Wouldn't this interfere with other indicators like Rengar leap or Yasuo tornado? How would you communicate one is the thether range for the ball and the other is your ability range?
