Can we do something for Essence Flux? (Ezreal's W)

What are your thoughts on Essence Flux right now Riot? Right now, in my opinion. Essence Flux isn't even a skill really. Let's look at it's pros and cons:

Pros:

-1damage -atk spd buff

Cons:

-waste 90mana -hard to hit -Boring(It's pretty much his Q wut)

What are some things we can do for Essence Flux?

  1. Rework it, make it so it's more of a unique ability.

  2. Add some more utility to it. What I suggest if we look down this path is making it have vision down the path it goes, it'll fit his theme as an explorer also gives him a reason to be picked over other ADCs in situations.

  3. Buff it. Take some power out of his E and put it into his W, his E shouldn't be doing more than his W in my opinion. What Ezreal wants to do is stay back and dish out damage by poking. Putting a lot of damage on his E does really help his kiting, however if his W had more damage he'll fit the role better.

  4. Make Essence Flux mark the target it hits, dealing magic damage to them when you auto or Q them. (50+25% AP)

Your cons are wrong as you are trying to say it should be used as an offensive ability. It is used to buff allies when taking objectives or in a team fight. It is a waste of mana if you are trying to use it to harass or get kills.

It used to decrease enemy attack speed for the same amount as the buff, but the shear de-buff that created was eventually deemed ridiculous, which it was.

The problem with rearranging his kit is there are Ezreal's to keep track of, AP and AD Ez. I'm not saying your proposed changes aren't possible, but any buff to his W can tread around the line of buffing AP Ez too much.

His W is for STACKING his passive.

Before it got nerfed, it used to heal teammates and lower enemy Attack Speed which was, as you can imagine, quite broken. Also, it hits like a truck on AP Ezreal.

Honestly, Essence Flux is fine. All of Ez' skills are fine, really. He's out of favour mostly for metagame reasons, not for strength reasons.

If he has a problem, it's the same one as Quinn. Namely, he's a perfectly good Marksman character who simply doesn't do that well in bottom lane. Where Quinn has a great kit for top lane, Ez has a great kid for mid.

The only issue there is that midlane was dominated for a long time by some really brutal assassins who could just tear him apart easily. Most of them got nerfed, but midlane is still relatively assassiny compared to other lanes. Still, he's probably a good mid pick in a lot of cases.

What Ezreal needs for viability is probably just better Marksman itemisation. He doesn't syngergise super well with the existing Marksman carry items, and his off-builds have even lower damage output (though greater utility) than his Marksman build. I'm not entirely sure what kind of new/updated items would be good for him, though. Hopefully Riot has some better ideas, since they're working on Marksmen itemisation right now.
