I can handle ragers, feeders, leavers, even trolls...
You know what I can't handle? Disconnects. Whether by drophacking or no, disconnects happen WAY too often and it's getting more severe. Here's the scoop (Wall of text inbound):
So I'm in champ select after having a pretty on and off night. Realize I'm last pick, so I ask for my roles and start looking through S@20 to catch up and figure out what all the fuss is about with these item changes I'm hearing about. It's my turn to pick and I realize that we need a mid laner. Since mid is my single worst role, I ask our Wukong if he'd take it and he obliges (good guy Wukong). Problem is I'm against a Renekton and my Shyvana has already been picked by the enemy team. Having to act quickly, I choose Diana, modify a mastery page quickly and get into the game. Start off kind of rocky. I gave up first blood and got put to a decent cs disadvantage. Trying to fight back, but starting to remember why I stopped playing Diana out of the jungle (dem mana costs but that's a separate thread). Pick up a Seeker's Armguard, play passively using Q to farm and dish out what little harass I can when my jungler Lee Sin comes up for a gank. We get a good kill, good damage on the top tower, and the lane seems to be swinging my way.
Then it starts. Maybe a better way to put it would be "then it stops" as in everything stops. I stop moving, minions stop attacking, I'm getting shot by a tower even though I'm in the middle of the lane right by the river and it's not even coming from the top lane tower judging from it's trajectory, the all too familiar "Attempting to Reconnect" appears and does what it usually does in these situations: absolutely nothing. I figure the Renek drop hacked and after a few minutes of wrestling with the client trying to convince it that it's not my firewall that's the issue (another all too common occurrence), I'd be back at the main dashboard. Nope.
After 5ish minutes, I make it back in and find that only Renek, Kayle (his duo partner) and our good guy Wukong are still in the game. All 3 lanes are pushing hard toward us and it seems like this is going to be a major uphill climb to pull out a win. I shop really quick and run out to defend top inner turret (as the outer turret fell while I was gone) from what looks like a sea of minions. I'm not sure what happened next because the game crashed again.
After another 10 minutes I finally made it back in and found that I had died and the turret I was trying to defend was gone. Shop again and see Renek pushing bot. Wukong and I rush down and manage to dispatch him and start pushing that wave back. At least I guess that's what happened because I crashed again.
Make it back in and our mid inhib is under fire by a huge wave of minions led by Kayle, Renek and a
enhanced Siege minion. Lee Sin manages to get in and he, Wukong, and I manage to fight off Kayle and Renek and push that wave out of our base. Rushing down the midlane to do what damage we can to their mid inhib tower before we crash again....and the game pauses as if it's a Tournament Draft. Wondering if this is something that usually happens when there's so many connection problems when it disappears and something strange appears on screen in it's place (see picture). Crashed again.
By this time my Task Manager is filing a restraining order against me for beating the "End Task" button so much. Make it back and the minions actually seem to be pushing in our favor. Rush down the mid lane again and consider buying a
myself so that something useful happens while I'm d/c'd (the absolute last reason that anyone should have for buying an item). See Renek defending the base and I give the order to attack, but my Q passes through him and my R never triggers as I slowly walk toward the tower and begin attacking it for 0 damage. Crashed again. After 62+ minutes of this crap, it FINALLY decides enough is enough and drops me at the main dashboard.
Now I'm not going to be one of those guys that says dumb things like "Damn it Rito! Throw moar money at it until it's fix'd!" because I know it's not that simple. I'm not even going to lie and say things like "I'm leaving this shitshow! See you on DotA!". I know that you guys are hard at work on making sure that things like this don't happen, but they do. I've spent over 3 years and an amount of money that I'd probably be too ashamed to admit to on this game because I love it and I love the company behind it. I'm not asking for special treatment, I'm not demanding that the Renek and Kayle be investigated and possibly banned, I'm not looking for a refund on anything. All I want is to be able to win or lose based on my own play, not based on which team has the rager or the troll building a Deathcap on Zed or the guy that's played 7 matches in a row but in the 8th runs into connection issues all of a sudden. I've won a fair number of games that my team didn't deserve because a player on the other side never connected and I've lost too many games that were easily winnable for the same reason. All I want is to sit down and compete with the same expectations of a stable connection that WildTurtle or Sky have. I'm still working on my IT degree, but I don't think I have to move to the West Coast to have that, do I? /end rant
