In that case, how does your build go? What do you start with? What are your core items? What can I build to make an AD Bard? What are your runes and masteries?

Bard I run heavy offensive 21-06-3 ADC Masteries making sure to pick up the movement speed in utility. As for runes I go 12mr 9armor 15AD but that can change depending on my match up going heavier armor or MR.

As for the build I have been going (Picking up boots somewhere in between the first two) -Blade of the Ruin King -Infinity Edge -Static Shiv -Black Cleaver/Last Whisper depending on how much armor they have -For my last item if im feeling extra frisky I go Hurricane but if not BT

There is an argument to be made that going a standard ADC build starting with Infinity Edge into Shiv or Phantom Dancer is better. But if thats your choice I recommend getting Lifesteal Quints and getting 2 Dorans blades before continuing your build because the added Lifesteal is important for lane.

So, what made you do this? The only part of his kit that interacts with AD is his autos, not even the meeps interact with it.

Bard His auto attacks feel really smooth, and the slow you get on his auto attack and snare from his Q combined with the mobility of his E acculy makes him an effective ADC/Assassin kind of a character. And having the added bonus of being able to engage with his ult kinda like ash ult quite interesting.

Its probaly not top tier or anything but i feel like it has its place in the right match up.

But this is also true with kog who is mainly played as a adc.

Bard Kog Dosent have mobility/snare/engage like Bard does. But thats also why im playing Bard as a top lane instead of an ADC

Kog passively gets attackspeed from his Q.

Also his spammable ultimate gives him synergy with Trinity Force.

And his Bio arcane (w) gives him bonus attack range.

BotRK is really good on champs that are packed with utility. Have you considered grabbing a Zeke's on AD Bard? That 20% CDR is nice, and you don't have any physical AOE to make Black Cleaver do its thing that well in comparison.

Also on that note, what's your take on Bloodthirster vs. Essence Reaver for Bard?

I have thought about going down that line and ill defenetly do some tests. But i generaly end up picking bard against a bruiser or a tank top such as Irelea, Shen, Lee sin, Renekton, or anyone of that nature. So having the added % HP damage is quite valuable. Also since im usualy put into an auto attack kitting situation having the activation is so valuable. Another point since bards auto attacks feel so smooth to me having the early Attack speed feels real nice. But i see the points your trying to make and I think they have some validity. But essence reaver dosent feel right. Bard dosent run into manna problems all that often

Oh, I didn't mean instead of BotRK, but in addition. BotRK is far and away the best option for sure.

Well bards damage is already lacking and what your talking about is replacing the Infinity Edge then which would make his damage to weak

You should give a try to AD Leona top: Rush a trinity force, boots and 3rd item hydra. Melt faces with the power of the sun. Standard skill order: Qfirst,Esecond,Wthird,max W first then E and last Q. 9/21/0 masteries so you can survive trades early game, for runes take lifesteal quints(bear with me here), armor yellows, scaling mr blues and AD reds. Take a dorans blade with a pot and enjoy free sustain thanks to your inherent tankyness, enjoy the on hit ms boost from the phage while chasing bitches down, not to mention your Q procs ALL on hit effects. The alpha damage from a tri-force empowered Q+hydra is monumental, not to mention that Q also resets your autoattack timer, and with your W open you are tankier than 90% of top laners at any given time.

Have you tried jungle Bard? It's pretty fun too. The early clears are kinda bad but you can use W to sustain, and they improve once you buy item 3713 . By mid/late game item 3153 + Devourer + Meeps + item 3087 gives a lot of burst on autoattacks.

I have not tried it yet but I do intend to. I imagine jungling as him would make it much easier to roam and pick up is chimes.

The best part is starting Red Buff, getting level 2 and ending with full HP. Pretty easy to gank with that, if your lanes aren't all pushing (why are they always pushing even when I specifically told them not to!??!)

Bard Temmo, Vlad. and Jayce have been my hardest matchups so far. Ide try and stay away from those. His strong point is being able to harass melee bruisers and make laning against him a living nightmare. If you can do than you can easily snowball a game out of controll
