No, he definitely deserved his ban. He said something pretty damn awful. He showed that he's incapable of just moving on from a bad experience with another person by venting his frustrations in a foul display of unsportsmanlike conduct.
In fact, I actually like that he got punished. Just because you're a pro, or you're famous or whatever, shouldn't protect you from the consequences of your actions. Riot get a thumbs up on this one.
I enjoy his videos, but he's just wrong here.

You can't buy favors from Riot to avoid punishment. That's not how it works and not how it should work. The game is free-to-play.
Video should have been called "Proof that verbal abuse is not okay and your reports matter".

I thought that was the most stupid part of his vid. Like I can understand disagreeing with the rules, but you can't just expect Riot to completely ignore them.

I understand the anger but all we can do is report people, and being toxic only exacerbates the situation, so there's no point except giving the troll the power to ban you for making poor decisions. Garbage, I got an adc leblanc with 2 boots and 2 sighstones in a rank game. Its amazing, how shes still playing leblanc adc and trolling right now. Good thing I didnt tell her to piss off or I would be banned.
Normally, I like Dunkey. But this is just... overly whiny. Like, child got put into time-out so clearly everyone else sucks, whiny.
It's amazing watching a bunch of idiots completely miss the point. No, he isn't "whining" and quitting because he got a measley weeklong ban. Hes said the game's no longer fun, he's tired of it. He's tired of the people that play it, and the company that runs it. And frankly I agree with nearly everything he said. I don't play this game because it's fun, I play it out of habit. A habit formed over four long years of watching it deteriorate. And sometimes you just have to drop a bad habit.
RIP Dunkey, your league of legends videos always made me laugh. Your videos have consistently renewed my interest in league and brought me back to the rift so many times over the last four years.
He deserved the ban, but league has been losing its appeal.

You say you don't have fun playing the game anymore. That isn't Riot's fault, frankly. Every reason you listed comes down to subjective preference, and many players enjoy the chesslike laning phase. Comebacks happen far more often than you give credit for. While the game is not Street Fighter, the game clearly has enough depth and nuance to let the great players climb - else we wouldn't see the same people in Diamond+ every season.

You say you don't deserve the ban. I'm sorry, but the code that YOU agreed to CLEARLY states that verbal abuse is wrong and a bannable offense. What, are you the kind of guy who goes to another country and refuses to respect their rules because "lol 'Murica?" Fuck that. Malphite should be banned, obviously, but your ban is still upheld - not to mention you've witchhunted via Twitter and on Youtube, which is also bannable. Sorry, you're in the wrong 100%.

You're their number 1 promoter? Possibly, for the young and toxic demographic of this game. Many other successful League Youtubers actually exhibit positive qualities, while you remain one of the only truly toxic ones. I guess it speaks to the quality of the game, if nothing else that you mentioned does, that you've been allowed to be toxic for so long. You get people to play the game - great. But what do you want Riot to do? You go against the summoner code. They CANNOT promote you. They just can't - it's a conflict of interests.

I find it amusing that most people here think someone getting their poor little feelings hurt is worse than actually being a detriment to the gameplay.
