Riot Games RPG
I was just thinking of what games Riot Games can make! AND my sister and I just thought about how absolutely amazing (and efficient) a Riot Games RPG would be! They could reuse most all the assets they created from league, AND push them further and get the most out of them.
The league of legend OST is, in my opinion, one of the strongest collection of video game related music of all time, and undoubtably the strongest modern collection. AND ITS ONGOING. Countless amazing pieces, not just champion themes but region themes and outside of music the League of Legends music department has proven time and time again that their understanding of SFX is at the peak of the industry. Instead of themes only being played for teasers and then dropped on SoundCloud, how cool would it be to walk into Ionia and hear Irelia’s theme as you talk to the people and explore the major cities. League’s cast (from characters to lore to champions) are such a damn good written group of people and places. And it could all be explored so beautifully in an RPG setting. You as the player sail into the Freljord and a member of the Avarosa asks you to seek out Orn. After a perilous journey, Orn himself tells you that he isn't interested, blasé blasé. YOU can interact with these characters. And they can act and behave IN character. It'd be seeing and exploring them and the world in first person. Walking the streets of Ionia, and seeing/hearing the villagers terror in regards to The Golden Demon (of course being Jhin). Or seeing Ionia firsthand (her joy and balance), and then experiencing the Noxian invasion in person. Exploring the busy and slightly stuck up streets of Piltover, and being there when Zaun sinks into the Earth. There's so much oporunity for some of the best and strongest gaming moments I can think of. Really scenes and experiences that could rival the most iconic video game moments: • Sheik reveals herself to be zelda???? • Issun unfriending Okami and then getting everybody to pray to her in the final battle • Carrying Ellie and Joel in the last scene of The Last of Us • Trying to escape the alter of Shadow of The Colossus • "Gherman Joins the Hunt" • 300 of the amazingly well written stories and potential moments that Runeterra can produce
Now the mechanics. RPG is a very open ended word. Pokemon is an RPG. But I certainly don't want to battle and catch Garens in the wild. Apparently DemonSouls and The Witcher count as RPG's, while that could work, that's not the vibe I'm going for. I'm thinking more of an Open World RPG. Similar to Tales of Symphonia. The people in your party are all legitimate people with their own agenda, not just people with nothing better to do. Every champion could have their own side quest, with the reward being recruiting them. That way everyone gets to have fun with their main (instead of Ashe being the main character of this hypothetical game, and everyone who isn't an Ashe main feels kinda left out). I don't know exactly who would make a good protagonist since Summoners got retconned, maybe just an average joe of Runeterra, or a tactician like Fire Emblem? But yes, you as the protagonist would explore the world and do quests to recruit champions. You could have your team of 5 people, and you switch out members once you hit the cap, being able to go back to just pick up champs who you've already completed their questline. Some champs quest line could be super simple (I imagine Braum wouldn't need much incentive to help someone go on a great journey), while other champs would demand a lot in order to be recruitable (Darius is gonna need a damn good reason to leave Noxus and travel the world with you). And these questlines could further the plot/tell the story of the world. IE: a lot of Ionian champs would have their questline tied to the noxian invasion. Combat, while important, should take a back seat to narrative I believe. Something that makes encounters feel meaningful, without being the core of the game (that's what league is for). Again, I'm thinking more along the lines of Tales of Symphonia or even Final Fantasy VII (1997). The alternative is to have it be similar to WOW, I like this one a lot less though, but to each their own. This one is self explanatory though, as WOW has literally already done it, so I won't make this huge annoying post any longer by running that in. AND! You could even tie in events and new champ reveals between League and [Riot Games RPG] to further push lore and the narrative importance of champions. For example, before Ekko is released or teased, some of the NPC's in Zaun would talk about him in vague terms; • Police Man: Those damned Lost Kids are always breaking stuff. Whoever the white haired one is wanted for theft, so let us know if you see him. • Woman A: the Lost Kids are a rowdy bunch, but they really do mean well. I hear one of them even got accepted to a Piltovan College! • Taliyah: I met a cut Zaunite guy once, I hope he's doing well...
TLDR; a Riot game RPG can re-use all of the League of Legends assets (music, characters, world, and story) almost as well, if not better than League does. Furthermore, having two full blown Riot Games would be amazing, and they could share events with the RPG game being more story focused, while League is of course more gameplay focused
Sorry this has been so long, but I really fell in love with the idea the more I typed it out! Anyhow, let me know your thoughts or ideas, OR if you have another idea for a Riot Game let me know or link your own post below! Thanks for reading everybody and have a wonderful night!!!
