Best Support to ‘one-trick’?

Okay I am level 23 and I have Rakan, Nami, Sona, Morgana, Galio, Lux, Soraka, and Thresh (in that mastery order). I have picked one poke/damage support (Morgana over Lux), one tank (Galio over Braum), but I still need to pick one healer (Sona vs Nami) and I need to pick one engage support (Rakan vs Thresh). But I really want to narrow down my champion pool even more as the main way I lose games are to support or top lane one tricks (like a Pyke one trick who won a 1v5 against us). Also I just want to get really good at one champion (and have the other 3 from above incase of a ban). Note: I don’t have Pyke, Nautilus, or Alistar but I have enoigh to get them if you say they would fit my playstyle. So you do you recommend? This was the order I was thinking:

  1. Morgana (can deal damage / carry if teammates are bad)
  2. Thresh (spoon feed kills with hooks [I will have to get better at him though as I have the least experience on him])
  3. Pyke (Heard he was the ‘carry support’ also he can deal damage, roam, and catch people out)
  4. Nami (safer than Sona in lane and kill pressure with bubble. Also W is more mana efficient)
  5. Rakan (he can poke/heal, shield/dodge, knock up (aggressively/defensively, and can engage/ setup kills ganks)
  6. Sona (consistent and good poke and ani-poke and great late games heals but is very squishy and basic)
  7. Nautilus (Seems like a worse Thresh, also his only way to support is to Hook with his Q (vs All of Thresh’s abilities), But he is easy and consistent)
  8. Lux (To me just a worse version of Morgana but the double root is nice and the E, but I just like Morgana more and feel more comfortable on her [as morg is less squishy])
  9. Soraka (just no for me, I like that she can bully a lane but the 10% hp cost on the heal is too much. I save my adc by double healing him/her/it but then get jumped on. Also she is just squishy)
  10. Alistar (I like tank supports but with no way to poke/damage enemies without all-in-ing, also team relient)
  11. Galio (he is my favorite champion but I have a 20% winrate on him (2/10). Both wins were from a top lane carry where our bot lane tower got taken in first 10 minutes. He is just so team relient (unlike morg) and when I get a 5 man taunt (often) I just die because we have no follow up damage. )

So what are your thoughts? (Here’s the poll: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/general-discussion/KalBW2yr-best-support-to-one-trick-poll)

Thanks, LelsersLasers

Also, who of the three I don’t have should I get? I have extra BE.

If I were you I'd go with Morgana/Thresh/Sona. Morgana and Sona are incredibly simple from a mechanical standpoint, while Thresh is a champion you could learn to carry a lane with.

Side note - give Taliyah support a try as well. She's a good source of midgame damage, and the occasional well placed W will feed the crap out of your adc. The ult is also excellent for blocking ganks. I pick Taliyah any time I'm partnered with a Vayne.

I personally love Nami, she is good at a lot of things (poke/sustain with W, stat/speed boost with E, peel/engage with Q/R) and can do it from a safe distance.

I think it might be a good idea to learn when to pick champs from your current pool into certain matchups. For example:

I love Galio, but like you my win rate isn't the best. I learned recently that I was just playing him wrong. I would try to be aggro in lane and use all my kit for engage and if I messed up my engage (or my ADC wasn't paying attention and didn't follow) I would just die. So instead, I wait to pick him into matchups that i expect to be heavily engaged upon. The last game I played Galio was into a Nautilus support and I just saved my E/W for whenever my ADC got hooked by Nautilus and we destroyed lane.

But if you are looking for supports to one trick that can solo carry games....I would say Thresh, Pyke, Morg, Lux or Brand would be the way to go (specially if you are in like Silver or below).

Morgana Support, she will carry you up to Platinum in no time, as long as you spam her.

item 3098 -> item 3070 -> item 3003 -> item 3020 -> item 3157 -> item 3165 -> item 3089

W Q E, max W first, then Q, then E and keep spamming Q W as if it's URF mode. Tear stacks at minute 19 - 21.

Your E at level 3, not sooner. It will pretty much make Thresh, Leona, Blitz, Pyke, etc. Support useless in lane.

And from Platinum on you can start buying proper support items. Before that you do need Tear in order to be able to almost infinitly spam your skills as if it's URF mode.

You are to literally spam your skill non-stop, QW QW QW QW QW any chance there is, even if it is a miss, they are great zoning and push back skills. While if it hits you can get an enemy squishy down to 40% hp with a QW combo.

Sona and Nami are the best choices for one trick supports. They have pretty much no unplayable match ups. Sona is broken beyond all reason and belief right now. Nami has always been extremely strong. Somehow neither ever receive nerfs despite sitting on some of the highest win rates of all champions in the game.

I'm extremely talented as Morgana and there are many bot lanes I can't win because my adc is just garbage. There's nothing Morgana can do to save someone who can't position in lane and consistently gets hit by skill shots. Champions such as Nami and Sona can handle this by having oppressive levels of poke and sustain. Your ADC can stand in everything and you will be able to sustain them.

Morgana, Thresh, Blitz, and Pyke can circumvent incompetent adcs by simply roaming and winning other lanes. You don't really have that option as Sona/Nami. So I suppose there are some tradeoffs.

If you are going to one trick Thresh and Nami are best suited for that of your list.

I'm more of a Sona/Zyra guy myself though.
