it seems like the new star guardians are actually rivals to the originals an are meant to be a sort of "mean girl ally" group like in sailor moon when the senior sailor scouts (of the outer planets) showed up to help their younger equivilents out and they be like "Lets not make this a regular thing noobs"

I think this ahri is actually a type of antagonistic hero. Anti-hero. Like jinx but jinx apparently decided to stick with the original star guardians.

Back on topic, there are two other quotes she says to Lux. Approximately "Nice world you have here", which backs up your 'from somewhere else' idea.

But Ahri also says to Lux something like "remember, we are your future", which is kind of interesting. Perhaps it shows that Ahri and her group have been doing this longer than Lux has.

So where's this suprisingly deep/dark plot? You just explained that the Star Guardian skins have a plot parallel to Sailor Moon, their main inspiration since the first skin. Knowing that Star Guardian Ahri is a meangirl isn't particularly deep, dark, or surprising when you consider the source material they're working from :P
