This is a honest question as someone who does want to improve. I've got about 4K ranked games in gold in 2 seasons and hit plat once and plummeted, I'm just curious how to climb, seeing as I can't, op.gg me to see champ stats, etc. Looking for some solid advice that isn't seen in every generic league climbing the ranks videos. Appreciate it! hope to see diamond soon enough.

You have 141 Champs played in Ranked. Stop that.

Have a Champion pool of 1-15 Champions you can play exceptionally well.

I have 2 Diamond account, and 2 Plat account

if you play more than 1 year already and you're not progressively climbing or doing better. Hate to say it but the game just isn't for you if you're trying to get good at it. If you're just playing on and off, there's no point trying to climb the Ranked.

You want to climb? The most basic of them all is OTP 1 or 2 Champ only.

Why? Cus it's easier to climb with the champion you know you can bust on.

Some thoughts:

  1. Pick 2 roles. Stick to those roles. You have a fair split between the roles; if you want to climb. . have a main, and a secondary.

  2. Stick with 3-5 champions in each role. Get good at them. You've played all but 5 champs in the game last season. I'd even say play no more than 1-2 champs in your off role.

  3. Your CS is low on your jungle and carry roles; Gold is pretty vital to this game. Even your support gold gen is low, which means you aren't utilizing farming the enemy for procs early or around for tower plates, assists ect. Also, being dead means a lot less gold generation.

  4. Vision score is low, even on support champions, but especially on your jungle games. Scuttle, vision plants, and deep wards are all pretty important to tracking where the enemy jungle (and roaming laners) are. Your score as a jungle should be pretty damn high at the end of the game.

  5. Don't play while tilted. Win streaks are actually how you climb (and loss streaks how you suddenly fall out of a division seemingly without warning).

Good luck next season. May the trolls ever be on the enemy team.

pick a champ or 2 and master them. Make sure they arent just two random champs, like make sure you can pick one over the other for certain situations. Im pretty sure you can climb to plat with any champion. I have tons of friends that manage to hit plat on their one tricks (ranging for lee mains to ivern mains)

Personally I started with Thresh (who is a jack of all trades, but excels in early game) Then i realized some comps aren't good early so i picked up a champ that doesn't matter how bad or good i did early, and will be useful late Braum just for times i felt thresh was not a good fit, or he got picked. Then i needed an off role so i learn Maokai jg because i would cheese my early clear and steal both crabs with sappling, and then i just ended up liking him so i made him part of my go to champs. Then i started learning TahmKench to counter thresh lanes cause braum was under performing in that match up, but he got nerfed and move to top, then nerfed again. So i just started jgling with and i started doing decent with him, so he kinda became my 2nd jgler if mao gets taken.

So ide say around most of my climb this season was due to Thresh, with splashes of the other 3 (Also for those curious y i started playing mao and tahm jg instead of reg jungles, its cause they were my go to champs for climbing 3v3)

Find your niche and carve it out. You gotta look at what's good and what you're good at, then find the perfect middle ground champion. I got through gold in patch 4.10. Everybody was playing Bloodthirster caster based adcs but twitch and tristana had quietly been getting buffed. I predicted that they were going to be the next meta and then in the next patch they reworked bloodthirster. The entire adc meta got flipped on its head. It was all about IE into shiv carries and the champions I was practiced on fit that perfectly.

12 wins 1 loss on trist that season. Also I'm against 1 tricking. find 2 or 3 champs you're good at.

Plat players are extremely unreliable. The only way to climb is to either A, be really fucking good at the game or find a duo to play with that is competent.

1: Stick to 2 roles and effectively learn 3-5 champs per role, as well as learn difficult match ups for said role. If you know that you cant win the match up, either play safe or ask for help. Being behind 20-30 cs is a lot better then being 0-3 and 30-40 cs behind because you didnt play smart/safe

2: The game is an objective game, not kills, kda, ect. HIT THE FUCKING NEXUS TO END THE GAME DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DRAW THE GAME OUT

3: Get lucky with the coin flip match making

4: Play the map well. What i mean by this is; A) Try to rotate/roam. (Obviously some champs are better at roaming and in certain situations if you cant roam due to immobility or being behind, at least let your team know the enemy is roaming) B) Ping well. Ping the objectives you want/need to get, especially when you have the advantage and the numbers to do so, ping when enemy is roaming, ect.

C) Try to communicate with your team on grouping, getting objectives, rotating/roaming ect

5: Mute players when there toxic

6: Learn to last hit well and try to get turret plates early on

7: Learn how the enemy jg paths depending on which side of the map your on, this can help predict ganks and can help maximizing vision effectiveness.

So, a lot of people are going to tell you a bunch of stuff about how you need to do this or that. Telling you that you need to rotate and focus objectives and communicate and manage waves and watch the map. Telling you that you have to dodge games strategically.

Real talk.

Everything up to and including diamond is people who aren't doing the majority of these things correctly. If you can tick off the skill set that some people are gunna throw at you claiming you need it to climb you will legitimately hit master.

And all of those things are nice. It's good to choose just one of those things at a time and really work on them.

My point? Don't be overwhelmed by some of the vast check lists and varying opinions you're going to have thrown at you. It's totally fine to be awful at certain aspects of the game. It's not going to stop you until you hit diamond.

I climbed to D4 averaging some 6 CS/minute losing every lane with grey KDAs and playing every game from a 2k gold deficit vs. my lane opponent because I can play mid/late game out well for the most part and right now that's my ceiling until I improve on my early game.

People gave good advice above so I'm just going to add a few more things. It helps to be tilt proof in-game. Try to think of what you need to do in lane and what you can do with the team after laning phase is over with. Try to work with your team to form a win condition to work around. You could also get coached, which helps see what problems you specifically could work on.
