The game is flawed, yes, but....

I've been playing league since season 3. I love this fucking game. I have gone through many up's and down's with this game but one thing that remains consistent is people CONSTANTLY shitting on the game.

Does the balance/design team make mistakes? Absolutely, New Akali, Zoe and my 100% most hated champ in this game Kled all have issues with kit, numbers, concept, overally they have shit that's in their kit that makes me go "but like why tho?"...

HOWEVER, for every dumb choice in this game, i feel like we overlook a LOT of good improvements to this game. This game looks GREAT from what it used to look like (honestly even by other game's standards the game looks pretty good.) It's optimized to run on basically anything, there is deep rich lore and special interactions. they get some GREAT voice actors like patrick warburton, matthew mercer, travis wilingham, to voice their characters. The game has TON'S of content, I've been playing for a long ass time and there is STILL a lot i can learn about certain roles and characters. A lot of characters have very cathartic fun abilities and even auto's sometimes, it's a fun game when you actually look at it IMO.

There are choices that i can't even begin to try to explain to you what they were thinking (new dark harvest is a prime example.) but this game has over 100 characters in it, it's hard to balance a game with 12 characters, let alone 100+, all with differing roles, interactions, abilities, and play styles. While some choices seem obviously dumb, when trying to account for so much shit at once it's very understandable to make stupid choices, I'm 100% certain if ANYONE was in that position you'd make some fucking dumb decisions that in hindsight you'd look back on and be like "oh what the actual hell was i thinking."

I get the frustration behind certain meta's and shit. Especially for AD players this season has been rough, i won't even deny that, but to claim "THE GAME'S TRASH, OMG SO BAD." Is in my opinion a claim that's very unwarranted, they game has up's and down's, some meta's are better than others. the game AT ITS CORE is fun. I just feel like people are overlooking all the good shit we have with this game.

I do think most of the people who complain on these boards absolutly love the game, but that's exactly where the disappointment comes from. I started playing with the release of Poppy and since then the game improved alot! The UI, graphics, music, story and the complete package of ambiance around all the champions.

However, for the past year the game has been in the most unbalanced state I've ever seen it in. Everyone can fuck up a patch, but this imbalance has been going on since the release of the new rune system. And with the current pre-season patch they only achieved the opposite goals. I can't even blink or I'll get nuked within a matter of seconds, alot of micro management has been taken away in lane, and you get punished for outfarming your enemy. Once you die in a lane you'll need help of someone else because coming back is so hard with the current snowball patch.

The only reason that keeps me from moving away from this game are the nostalgia feelings and that I infested quite a bit of money in skins. And until last seasons I didn't regret it even a single penny I threw at Riot, not even once! But since the previous season and the current preseason I start regretting I ever spend money in this game. Which is sad, and it didn't have to be like this.

I can understand the outrage, and it's completly justified. Riot is NOT a small indy company anymore, they have alot of manpower to set things straight and a PBE to test things. Defeding their mistakes is not going to help, they fucked up a lot and do not bother to hotfix it. Leaving the game in a more horrendous state than it was before the patch, for ATLEAST 2 weeks, if they even bother to fix the issue. If they were a small company I could forgive alot of mistakes and imbalances. I get it, its hard and there are many you can things you can miss (even on PBE I guess?), BUT am I wrong to expect from a multimilion dolar company to quickly fix their mistakes?

I agree. Remember Butcher's Bridge? That map was gorgeous! They even brought it back after we bothered them about it for a few years. What about hackers? When was the last time you saw a hacker in league? No, scripters are not hackers. It's virtually impossible to hack this game. Now THAT is an accomplishment.

And for the 100. time I will repeat myself - yes the boards were always crying for balance, but unlike seasons 1-4 when we cried just about specific items or champions, now we are crying about broad terms like damage, cc, mobility, towers etc. which are core gameplay elements. Once those are fucked up EVERY game sucks a massive dick. I could have had a game in season 3 without Kassadin and it was fun as hell. Now it doesn't matter if I play against Akali and Irelia or against Volibear and Ivern , the game SUCKS , its frustrating, annoying, rage inducing, it honestly makes me want to break my laptop in half and the only reason I still play is the money invested into skins on my accounts. I want the actual league, the best game in the world, to come back , but at this point I give it 2-3 years before it dies or gets murdered by a new game that actually takes more than 17 IQ to play and is based on strategy.

I really like the art, sounds, lore and other non gameplay related stuff. But the gameplay is by far the most important aspect of the game. This is a MOBA. I don't care about lore, skins, music, high quality videos and other good stuff if I don't enjoy playing the game.

I feel like Riot abandoned their "fun to play and fun to play against" philosophy when it comes to designing and balancing champions. That's why, for example, Irelia, Akali, Aatrox and Camile are able to exist in the game the way they are now for long period of time. They have been making champs with overloaded kits that lack clear weaknesses for a while and failing to balance them most of the time. It seems they balance champs like this so even players that didn't master them fully can be very effective with them. This naturally makes them way op in the hands of the players that are able to play them properly. I think that champs like this should feel bad to play when not mastered. That would make them feel very rewarding for players that take the time to master them while not being broken.

Back when Riot was just an office with a couple of guys making a game and concepting Brolaf it was fine. Can't really fault an indie sized company at not achieving satisfying balance but...

Now they're a multi billion dollar business. Just get a competent huge darn team of people to balance the game. It's not that they don't have resources to allocate to game balalnce. This whole "but it's hard to balance 140 champions" is an excuse.

Hire 1 person for each champion to work on dedicatedly i don't know. They have the money to do it.

I don't particularly like this game anymore. The reason I keep playing it is because there's nothing else that's better (for me). Fortnite is so popular it makes me sick and I cannot see how skill plays a factor in the genre. MMORPG games are a dime a dozen and most of them aren't good. Fighting Games are just a little too competitive for me to maintain. The rest are mostly stuff that I can't get into for one reason or another.

The only reason people play this game is because it's free. That's the same reason why Fortnite is popular.
