Getting autofilled Top lane, often.

I've recently noticed that i get autofilled for Top lane 9/10 times and one of those times i will get autofilled for support.

Which is weird because years ago it was hard to get Top because of how many people wanted that role but now it feels like it's the most autofilled role...

I could understand why people never wanted to play support, because you're basically someone's servant for the first part of the game and then you are the team's servan for the rest of it and to top it off nobody ever appreciates what you do, you could carry an entire game and yet everyone will turn to the adc and say gj.

But i don't know why people wouldn't want to play top.

As a top lane main, I'll just say it feels like the least influential lane. You can snowball and be very far ahead, but if your mid or bot lane is equally far behind, I give a top laner 1 in 3 of actually carrying, and that assumes they're on a champ that can do it (Illaoi, Yorick, other strong duellists). On a tank, maybe 1 in 4 or 1 in 5.

Long story short, it's just a demoralizing lane to play right now, very team dependent even when you get ahead.

EDIT: ninja'd by World King.

Toplane is fun when you are actually allowed to play the damn game. But in my experience - as a former support, current toplane main - here's the average experience (note - not all in one game typically, but over 50% of games like this)

  1. Jungler either refuses to ever gank your lane or makes really obviously bad gank and dies... feeding your opponent early kill and possibly double buffs after you put in major work to put them behind early. Jg flames you and refuses to ever gank for you again.

  2. Enemy jg literally lives in your lane. Their jg pathing consists of do camp, gank top, do camp, gank top.... And despite 1v2 outplaying both of them repeatedly and the enemy jg being topside for 90% of laning phase or more, your jg either afk farms as all lanes except yours lose, or he ganks bot only looking for kills, bot loses first tower despite being fed a 3v2 most of game, and they fail to get a single dragon. Enemy jg goes bot once, gets shutdowns on your fed botlane duo and the jg, gets drag. Your team notices you have tp and flames for not teleporting to 4v5 contest first drag that they had 8 min of 3v0 time to do... and didn't ever do.

  3. Anyone on the enemy team is free to splitpush. Although you are capable of 1v1'ing anyone on the other team or even 1v2 half of them, you are never allowed to split because omg it's so hard for your team to 4v5 or even 4v3 just waveclear safely under their damn tower.

  4. You go to side lane to clear a giant wave and set up splitpush pressure about 1 min before baron or drag is going to spawn. You warn your team, tell them what you plan to do and that you will tp for objective if enemy contests it. Instead of secure vision and set up for the play, the ignore everything you say, force a 4v5, and die faster than you could possibly channel tp to help them. Team flames you.

  5. Bonus to #4... your adc or support goes to do exactly what you wanted and attempted to do in #4 only... the objective is currently up, you just engaged a 5v5, and they gave team no warning. Team gets wiped and... it's NOT the fault of the adc or support who left at start of teamfight over objective that is up RIGHT NOW.

  6. Nobody helps you... ever, but you are everyone's tp bi*&h. Yeah... supports are the "ward this bi*^h". Toplaners are the "why didn't you tp to save me (from my own stupidity) bi*&h".

  7. Bruiser toplaners are flamed for building damage because everyone else on their team is squishy and needs them to solo frontline. Even though the jg and support were last ones to pick and realized... team needs more tanky champs for frontline, they went full squishy pure damage carries... and then fed their asses off while helping nobody during laning phase. Which means the team has NO damage AND no durability... except for you. So you're supposed to go full tank so your team has 0 damage from anyone (except maybe mid) and you still aren't durable enough because you have 1.5 - 2 items and there's mixed damage on the other team.

  8. Hung out to dry still more. You spent 4 min straight camping bot stupidly after doing first buff botside jg. Now your topside buff is being contested and you expect me to bail you out. FYI.... I'm playing a champ that's designed to push and bully early and you completely screwed me out of being able to do that by 1. not warning me of your strat so I was overextended and narrowly escaped an early 2v1 only to be zoned off cs and xp at early crucial levels because 2. you stayed bot forever... preventing me from playing my champ how it was intended to be played. No... I'm not missing 3 waves of cs to POTENTIALLY save you from the enemy jg... especially after all that.

  9. You rotate behind the enemy team to get a 3v3 or 5v4 or something like that either by walking or by tp flank? Your team refuses to engage because omg one of us might die to wipe them all out. And so while you pinged and gave them 10sec or more to ping you away or type they are too scared to make the play, none of them say anything. And you end up 1v3 or 1v4 while your team sits right there outside aa range and watches you die. This after they'd just forced a 3v5 for no reason not long before and then 4v5 engage immediately after you die and the enemy team has rotated to group 5. And somehow you're the idiot shitty toplaner who is costing team the game lol.

And people wonder why toplaners don't want to group. Or why people don't want to play toplane. Gee... no idea here. Why would any toplaner in one or MORE of the above scenarios be slightly upset or untrusting of their teammates?

*not EVERY game is like this, but I see one or more of these type of scenarios repeated far more than I experience games where my teammates don't put me in 1 or more of these scenarios. And the other team? Rarely if ever experience nearly as much or severe of issues as I do. The few wonderful games in-between these headache-enducing, blood-pressure-increasing, maddening nightmares seems to get rarer by the season. Making it less and less worth playing. And the worst part is... it's not even my fault.
