Alright, so Swain has been out for at least a couple minutes now
What are everyone's thoughts on him?
I'm assuming he's hot garbage cause it doesn't look like they gave him much damage anywhere

I think its odd that his ulti is like Vladimirs E instead of hitting everyone in the area. Makes it way too punishing to actually go into their team like you should.
Too early but from the game I've played, several games on PBE, and watching a couple livestreams I don't really see much value in him right now.
I know they nerfed him on PBE before he went to live, but damn he really feels nerfed, he feels like the aftermath of a new op champ's release, at release.
His W I thought would be great for scouting the jungle from lane, but it doesn't get as much vision as I'd hope for and its unreliable in combat.
Also if your team doesn't have CC he's honestly not worth playing at all.. like landing his E is a lot harder then it looks since it can also stun the minions it comes back on, so the best scenario for you to use your passive (which is also what gives you fragments to do anything else, alongside W which is a high CD easy to miss spell) is if your jungler or support land CC. His follow up is great, but his setup doesn't feel reliable.
His Q is his most reliable and best asset. If its ratios (bases actually) weren't this high on a low CD, I'd say he'd be garbage other then his ult which he can't reliably get and can't reliably recast in time.
Again still early, but those are the first impressions.
it seems to me more along the lines that they wanted to keep him as a tanky mage. you can use his w to assist your jungler/gain assists every now and then. also he would do better killing minions and playing it safe until a gank comes his way. if the jungler has any cc then swain can ensure that the enemy laner wont be getting away.

It's like you didn't even look at his numbers. If all the bolts from Q hit, it does 348 (+96% AP) damage, on a 2.5s cd. With 40% CDR, it's up once every 1.5s. Sure, you won't always hit all of the bolts, but it's still a lot of damage on a short cd.
