Unpopular Opinion On Honor Icon Rewards.

Sorry for the title, I needed to get your attention.

So I’m seeing a lot of backlash with the reward icons that players are getting from the old honor system. I think the icons are neat. They’re the best way to show off you were an honorable person, since your icon is displayed almost everywhere. I mean that’s what this is all about, when the new honor system came out people wanted a chance to hold onto the old system and show the fact that they were an honorable person from the beginning. So Riot listened and now they’re coming out with the icons.

Yes the icons are a little confusing (what does it mean to be in the top 10%? Will I qualify?). I had 1137 teamwork honors, and a couple of hundred’s for the other categories. I’m not sure if I’ll get an icon and even if I do, I probably won’t use it, I love my Project: Kat icon too much.

**But to me, being part of the honor system, both old and new, isn’t really about the free things I get. It’s about the fact that I, hopefully, made the game at least a little more enjoyable for the people I’ve played with over the years. I mean that’s the real reward here, right? That win or lose, someone’s game was a little bit better because of me. **

And yes I’ve had my fair share of games where I’ve fought with teammates/opponents or have not been the kindest I could have been, I’m sorry if you’re out there.

I mean I don’t expect us all to sit around and sing Kum Ba Yah and for everyone to accept the icons. But if you have a suggestion, feel free to share. But let’s be realistic here, Riot’s not going to unlock every skin for you just because a couple of times you said “gj” to a teammate. They are still a business here after all and they’ve been trying to give us as much free content as they can.

My suggestion would be to maybe give us something on our profiles. Maybe give us back the old numbers we had, or a badge or something. There is so much free space there, although it might be a bit confusing for new players. And the fact that not very many people look at profiles. (Or at least I don’t. I barely look at my own, let alone my friend’s profiles). I don’t know, let me know if you have a better idea.
