It's 2018, League is overdue for a new competitive mode.

Riot I know you're hardstuck with trying to funnel players into SR, but I know I'm not the only one that has a bad taste left in my mouth from that game mode over the years. No matter how you guys tweak or try to revamp this map I have played less than 50 SR matches in the 2 and a half years I've been back into League, meanwhile my ARAM matches are over 6700. I've played on average 7 sometimes 8 ARAM games per day (and that's giving a low estimate) compared to at most 2 SR matches per month. Despite this I am by no means a noob with an ARAM account, I have a versatile champion pool to complement any team I'm placed in. But no matter what, I will always be viewed as an unranked and "casual" player because I simply do not like Summoners Rift at ALL, and it's been like this for me every since ARAM has existed,

I feel that League needs a different competitive scene for a change, and no I don't mean Twisted Treeline or ARAM. It's just plain silly to me that someone's "skill" is tied to Summoner's Rift alone. I want to be blunt, Summoner's Rift is holding League of Legends back. It's 2018 and this map is plain and simple- old and increasingly boring. The strategies have disappeared and much of the champion pool is left stonewalled by flaccid metas.

Something new and completely unique to League that isn't named Runes or Scuttle Crab would breathe fresh air into every skill tier, and even better... It would bring in new players.

Riot you've done a lot of hard work with your Champions. We have SO many awesome champions and yet so little ways of expressing our individual skill levels legitimately because Summoners Rift is a game mode that you can only do well in by following a very strict set of standards that've stagnated over the years. This game desperately needs something besides this one game mode to matter if it is to succeed like many of us seasoned and O.G. players want to see it succeed. If you were to create an entirely different map with entirely different objectives you are effectively inviting new players AND old players alike who quit because of SR, back to the game and onto a level playing field. I can compare it to an MMORPG in a sense that when there is a new server on the list it gets flooded by the thousands with new and old players who are ready to grind their faces off in order to be the best, something that wouldn't be possible in the older servers where the balance of power is often dramatically different depending on factions/clans/guilds/etc.

This game is called League of Legends, not League of Summoner's Rift. I truly, absolutely truly believe the future of League depends on whether Riot understands that chess doesn't have to be played on the same board used for the last 1400 years. Riot needs to compete with other more modern games that have prettier graphics, free cameras, bigger explosions, and bigger environments. I've never understood this fixation on the "classical" moba 5v5 map with 3 lanes and 2 jungles. All it does is look cookie-cutter with the least amount of effort.

_**TL;DR **_There are SO many different ways of making this game live long and prosperous. But when the only relevant game mode is plain Jane Summoner's Rift, I think I speak for the e-sports audience when I say League is looking very monotonous and average. What if Riot came out with a new competitive map? What if it was as simple as a circular map, the border being two lanes- the top and bottom being the two nexuses while the middle is one huge jungle? What if there was a star map(pentagram type) with 5 lanes and 6 smaller jungles that could be accessed by the laners, with the center pentagon being the largest jungle with an epic monster?

Riot you can safely say you have succeeded in making League of Legends as huge as it is today. You now have the resources(fame and money) to do whatever you want with this game and all you need is TO DO IT! We want another map that we can play Ranked and climb to Challenger in. That doesn't mean REPLACING SR, but think of it like this: In CS:GO the classic map de_dust2 has been around since the original Counter Strike 1.1 and has been in too many professional games to count. BUT it is NOT the only map played in CS! CS would be NOTHING if it just had de_dust2. I know its comparing apples to oranges but they both grow on trees and are ate by people. Your PLAYERS fuel the game. Players don't appear nor stick around unless they see a reason to. GIVE US A REASON TO BECAUSE WE LOVE LEAGUE OF LEGENDS!

Some games work better with different maps than others. For the map to feel like it belongs in League of Legends (and isn't just a reskin of an existing map or feels like it came from a different game) it needs to focus primarily on Lanes and Towers (with Jungle in between), with the ability to let secondary objectives sit idle for a while.

If you want a MOBA with map variety go play HotS. Because they set out to make the experience center around the map specific encounters/monsters/effects they can have more maps. League just isn't designed for map variety.

Agreed

Although this will likely change nothing because for them to design a new map it would cost them big bucks and while i'm sure many of us would like this feature to be added in they won't because then they'd have to either A) Hire a seperate team to work on this new map / balancing or B) Pay the current team for SR to also balance the new map

Both options cost them more money so that's a big negatory

Add battle royal... Every fucking game does that now. Soon Nintendo will make battle royal mode for Smash Broth.

But to be honest, new maps won't work in this game. Champions are designed specifically for Summoners Rift, so making an entirety new competitive mode, they will have to entirety rebalance most champions.

You lost me at 'bigger explosions'. If I see that League I'm uninstalling instantly.

League is one of the most successful games ever. How much more of the market do you want it to crowd out?

The amount of work needed to support a different map is much more than it would bring in revenue. This argument has been rehashed hundreds of times on the Boards and old forums, but the two sides aren't what you think they are.

Almost everyone would love to have more maps; it's just that some of us understand why we can't. It's too much work for Riot. They can't maintain the competitive integrity of the game and make great new maps on a regular basis. It's just not going to happen.

The best we're going to get are the pretty complex temp game modes like Dark Star or Star Guardian. These are fun modes. But they aren't balanced for a huge number of champs, and they shouldn't be. Again, that's a lot of dev cost for minimal returns.
