Like honestly, i watch the Boards every day, and unless it's something praising them or something about lore or some random art-contest or whatever...they're not going to show up and discuss gameplay stuff or things anymore. They just hide in their bunkers and wait for the next patch to "communicate" via patch notes and Meddler's gameplay posts which barely address anything and are limited in feedback.

I quote their objective "To be the most player-centered company in the world." yet they only respond to overwhelmingly positive reception.

That's...really sad.

Edit: I know they're on holiday break but i am referring to communication in general, including before the break. They've been completely silent about most things for a longer time now.

It probably because a large % of Boards just post complaining about how bad the balance is. But most of the complainting would probably be solved if they actually explained how and why they do the changes they do.

It's not shocking at all, and they've had a preference for reddit and their personal twitter accounts over the boards for a long time now anyways. Not to mention the fact that we're still in the middle of a holiday season, so there's probably a fair number of reds that are on vacation until after new years, or who have a limited work schedule until then. You also need to keep in mind that Riot is on unsteady ground internally - there's a fair bit of discord while they clean up the problems that got blown wide open a couple of months ago, so it's not like anybody can afford to have another incident with ragey posters.

They do their Gameplay Thoughts posts where they list everything they're working on and answer questions about balance, champions, and items at least weekly, of not multiple times a week. They're just taking a break for the holidays.

They don't answer people's posts about balance because if it's not going to be covered in an upcoming Gameplay Thoughts, then they can't talk about it or there's nothing in the works.

Who says they don't talk to us? Boards has a mod team. Boards isn't for communication, it's for chatter. If you want to communicate with Riot, that's what Reddit and Twitter are forl.

Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time a member of the art team commented in a thread about bugs because he read a funny joke and wanted to expand on said joke.

The community responded by giving him a few hundred downvotes while cussing him out for not taking the thread seriously.

He never returned to the forums.

I feel like nothing has change in this preseason beside the new tower plating which was very supportive for the burst 5 v5 deathball festa been forced all sea8 so my guessing is that seas9 wont be any difference, my actualy be worst

And when they do respond, it's just super empty claims and promises. I remember meddler responding to one of my posts about Karma and saying that they were working on changes to fix the problems that I listed only for me to wait nearly two entire years and for none of the problems to be addressed in their proposed changes.

I mean... It is winter vacation. Large amounts of people are not working between christmas and shortly after new years.

That explains short term.

Long term is a bit more complex. Would you rather engage in conversation with players who are willingly complaining about a product that you provided for free that have become so passionate about it that if they don't like your response, you will be hated in your own community? I mean come on. We've seen it with Moderation on the boards. If people don't like/agree with what mods have to say, they get harassed and ultimately have their independent thoughts suffocated because the community didn't like it.

Would you like them to never talk to us? Because when players are doing nothing but asking for devs to be fired and asking for community managers to be laid off for not doing what they want, that's when they'll never listen to us.

Gameplay+ is the closest thing we have to actual discussion and players are ignoring it. Gameplay+ naturally, by design, removes strong emotions and only allows factual evidence and quality posts. When every post in "Gameplay" is just "RITO WHY IS DAMAGE HIGH," no dev, in their right mind, would respond to that. That's just dumb and bad business. Directly address the mob outside your house when people are mad at you and you might begin to understand why it's a bad idea.

The boards are dumb and don't understand how people work. Plain and simple. Most of the people here act like they're 10 years old and they've never been to school. Between lack of clarity in posts all the way to asking to be un-banned because what they did wasn't ~~that~~ bad. Like, what!?!?! No. They're not going to listen or even engage in rage posts. Only quality discussion should be allowed here and anything but is just spam in my eyes.

Go ahead, downvote me. I don't care. You all know it's true. This is how this community acts. Players think the developers owe them for whatever reason and now, all we've got is a complete mess where devs have stopped engaging because players stopped thinking for themselves. Everyone is just liking things they agree with and smothering things they don't and discussion is impossible outside of specific sub-forums.

It just feels like they're giving up and don't listen to what the majority of the community have to say at all. Meddler is the only one who's communicating with us in his dev-posts, but where are the other gampley devs? Sometimes you have to go through negative posts, life is not easy. (Even tho there are a lot of them on the boards and reddit, but the biggest problems need to be solved)

Heck, even Treyarch is listening to their community and took over most of their ideas and fixed reported bugs in Black Ops 4. Game was tilting at the beginning, but it's a bit better now.

The irony of people criticising the boards and still carrying on using it. Not surprisingly, some justify it because they find the comments "funny" at the boards.

Its also funny how the boards is blamed for the changes that riot makes. Then again, they will be like, boards biched about this and that and riot changed it (with million additional changes) and now the boards are moaning again. I repeat, there is not even a single suggestion on boards that has moved riot to bring the game into the one shot fiesta it currently is. Riot is catering for its asian population and the Worlds. DON'T PUT IT UP ON THE BOARDS WHEN YOU'RE A PART OF IT!
