if a character says it in game, it's 'in-character' if you say something in chat, it's 'out-of-character' This is why what you say in chat matters and also why what characters say in game doesn't matter.

I understand that some people don't see any difference between in-character remarks and out-of-character remarks. But as someone pointed out if your character kills someone it's in-character and not a problem. If you kill someone, it's out-of-character, and not acceptable. There is a distinction between in-character actions and out-of-character actions, whether you think you are role-playing or not.

I love how much salt are in these comments. If you can't tell the difference between a fake non-real character telling other non-real characters that they are noobs, and telling REAL PEOPLE that they are noobs and they should die. Just don't use chat except to communicate intent, save yourself the hassle.
