Hey ARAM players I got a question
Why do you only play ARAM and not the rift? I used to be an ARAM player
Why do you only play ARAM and not the rift? I used to be an ARAM player
Because the balance state of the game feels pretty garbage. It's a lot easier for my mental as a very competative person (even outside of video games). It's a gamemode where even when I'm losing I'm still having fun.
I feel like it has to do with the fact that you don't get people spamming broken champs due to the randomness (my ARAM MMR isn't high enough to run into ARAM only accounts, if those even are still a problem anymore) and that you aren't using traditional builds most of the time.
Rift has gotten pretty old after so long. Aram is the only haven left anymore for people that like the game but are tired of rift. What else is left? Dominion is gone, twisted treeline is gone, rotating gamemode is dead in the water, team fight tactics isn't even league. So Aram is kind of all that is left.

Game pacing and camaraderie, I guess? For one thing, SR's laning phase feels tedious. Despite League being a team-based PvP game, you're forced to sit through a prolonged 1v1/2v2 scenario with heavy PvE elements every time you play SR. Moreover, given the size of the map, your ability to interact with your teammates is heavily limited. Sometimes the match is outright decided before there's even any sense of a team rather than just individuals.
In contrast, you're generally with your teammates in ARAM. You can start getting a sense for each other right from the beginning. Even if your team is just as bad as in an SR match, there's at least more opportunities to cover for them.
My favorite League games over the years have typically been matches where a bunch of randoms and I just click together and play as a cohesive team. That's unfortunately something that can't really happen in SR, simply due to how the map is designed.
I used to play ARAM much more than SR, .. I think mostly because I didn't feel like I was good enough at the macro game to handle SR. It was generally less competitive and people were far less likely to flame you if you weren't doing very well. On SR, if you're in the jungle and a lane is losing, it's obviously your fault. Even if you're in a lane and your opponent roams and gets a kill, YOU didn't ping them missing. That is fair, but in ARAM, it's just pure siege.
The last reason that has a lot more to do with the actual game, and not behavior, .. sometimes I just don't want to pick what champion to play. I literally have every single one, and I like to play all of them. It also allows me to try different things and get to know champions that I don't play as much.
SR is boring. One mistake and you're out of the game usually. 20 minutes to complete one item and you're hopeless if other laners don't understand the match. ARAM lets you keep fighting without having to worry about lanes that depend on jungle ganking or counterpicked and it lets you build items faster so even if you're "behind", you're not hopelessly useless for the entire game and suffer through a 20~30+ min game not being able to do anything. Though I must admit ARAM is shit lately with rito's "balance" patches overbuffing or overnerfing numbers by a lot (in percents) on champions that are already strong there and MR is extremely strong in ARAM, the downside of being able to build items fast is that tanks and bruiser get tanky faster and shows the unbalance between MR and armor when even a void staff does nothing.
I personally would even stop playing ARAM, but they pulled out on Nexus Blitz.
Simple, SR has no bridge, people like bridges, if SR had a bridge we would have at least 16 million concurrent users but knowing riot they would make it a bridge too far or too narrow.
Another thing is ARAM has no scary monsters like dragons/heralds/barons or "flashy esports Mini-objective" aka scuttle crab so ARAM is better balanced.
when i play aram i play it because of the freedom to play how i want without people calling me a troll.
Time. I have 20 minutes of free time. I don't have 6 hours of free time.
Main reason is so I can obtain chests. Sub reason is because SR can be very exhausting with the players ready to explode on some teammate giving first blood.
I play aram when I want to play a quick game or feel like playing some random champion
Because rift was turned into a toilet for abuse. So i escaped to aram. didn't take long for riot to screw that up too.
Aram is a hell of a lot easier to solo-carry, on top of no one likes to play illaoi so I get her all the damn time. Also snowball ulting people as a tank makes me moist
Because I'm fed up with the state of the game in general and ARAM is a break from the usual shit on the Rift. Now if Riot were to replace TT, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
The main reason is that it's less stressful than the Rift because there's less macro to worry about and people tend to be less obsessed about winning and optimal play. After that, I like that everyone has pretty much the same experience and gold income, which is a nice change of pace because I mostly play support and jungle, where I usually feel starved for both, and I like that games are short enough that I can get a little practice on a champion I am bad at without dragging my team through a long losing game. If Riot introduced a regular game mode that hit all these notes and also let me pick my champion (like, say, Dominion), I'd probably be playing a lot more League than I am, since I don't actually like the Rift unless I am playing with IRL friends.
Beyond that: I see more champion and comp variety on ARAM than I do on the Rift. I don't have to worry about being stuck in a bad 1v1 or 2v2 match-up because it's all 5v5. I enjoy figuring out each game's win condition, since team comps for both teams are different every game. I enjoy figuring out how to play free rotation champions I'd never willingly pick for myself. I enjoy working out off-builds for champions I like in games where their normal builds aren't optimal. Before Mark/Dash came out, I also really enjoyed figuring out how to successfully play melee champions with sub-par target access.
Cause this season sucks.
As a aram player +6000 matches. As a dominion player 1500.
overtime.. eventually every mode will take advantage of every opportunity to kill everything you love.

Why do you only play ARAM and not the rift? I used to be an ARAM player
Cuz its more fun and relaxing than rift , you can lose a game even if winning lane in rift just cuz some shitt was feeding , aram is life
Its pretty fucking clear that no matter the game mode Riot doesn't give a shit.
We all want modes that we can carry and have fun and whatever the fuck, but riot wants us to buy skins. So they ban kids who say fuck or piss or shit %%%% or whatever, but then allow all the scripting botting and trolling in whatever the fuck game mode.
WE WANT GAME MODES TO PLAY AND HAVE WHILE WITHOUT TROLLS AND BOTS.
Its pretty fucking easy to make that happen, but Riot just won't fucking do it. It will not get rid of its player base. WHich is why it need to get punched int he fcuking face. Over and over again.
I quit in 2014 because I had been playing 5 years and there were NO NEW competitive maps (versus HotS 14 maps). I was tired of playing that. I created my second account, this one in like 2012 and played mostly ARAM for about 2 years when the murder bridge was released until 2014. I came back this year to find there was STILL only one competitive map AAAAAAND NOW there is a FORCED meta on that map! LOLOLOL! People really freaked out when I didn't play what and where I "claimed" I was playing. It is fun to get on my main account and double jungle or double top lane in ranked. It really peeves people. Anyways, I digress, so yeah there's nothing forced in ARAM, which while there's still only "one" map I mostly play, at least we can play how we want. Though there's still plenty of crybabies out there who will ping your build if you don't build how they like. The biggest travesty to ARAM since I was was gone was them opening up the pool to 45 free champs at a time, but that's life I guess. I have too many other games to play with my woman and friends, so I don't take this seriously and that's why ARAM is perfect for me.
Very easy, I play aram to play other champs. I love playing nid and vik and asol, but I don't feel like learning how to jungle clear or lane with them. In aram u don't have to knlw match ups, you farm for like 3 mins and ks some kills then u start to snowball and boom ur like 13/6 on champ you barely play. Its very fun, and just a constant team fights are way more fun than laning for 10 mins
