I want to learn how to be able to design champs for video games, what software should I use, and how much time it might take, anyone could help me?

I'm happy to provide some of my insight (source: interviewed at Riot and several other companies a few times), but it's first important to know what sort of design you're interested in. "Designer" is an ambiguous term, frankly, and even "Champion Designer" isn't super specific.

Here are the aspects that might relate to design:

  • Gameplay Balance Design (Live Balance)
  • Gameplay Mechanic Design (Metagame Health)
  • Gameplay Content Design (Champions, Reworks)
  • Visual Design
  • Sound Design
  • Story Design
  • Animation Design

Depends on which part of the design process you're gonna be working for.

There's visual, which is model, projectiles and textures. There's conceptual, which discusses skill functions and other attributes on game play. There's lore, which is story, color scheme and cohesion between visual and conceptual.

The second two don't need anything special program-wise, as writing them down well enough can be enough.
