I see at least 9 boards posts per day from people saying about how they got unfairly banned for responding to toxicity in chat. Just use the mute button the second the other guy(s) starts being a jerk. You won't have to see their messages in chat, and you don't get banned for someone else's BS. It's a win-win! I mean seriously, the devs put it there for this exact reason.

not the one who down voted you but the "be the bigger man" is a bad stance. toxic behavior is not only disruptive but it is humiliating and often the only way for someone to rescue their pride is to fight back. "no excuses, don't retaliate" is akin to saying "shut up take the punch" presumably until some higher authority comes around to punish the offender. the best policy is discourage provocateurs, not empower them by equally punishing their victims.

Not really...
If you "retaliate to save your pride", you're sinking to the toxic player level. You have become equally disruptive and problematic just to make yourself look better. The victims are not punished because the victims are the players just trying to enjoy the game. It's a lot harder to enjoy the game if one toxic player has set off another player, leaving you down two players instead of just one.
Toxicity can take a lot of forms. That includes retaliation and getting on a player's case after he has told you to leave him alone. If you aren't going to treat your allies as teammates, you can expect your allies to not cooperate with you.
A team cooperates. Allies are just on the same side of the battle.

If you have one like me or, I'm guessing 90% Of people here, You'll have this 2nd small keypad to the right that has numbers and calculator buttons with a larger "Enter" button.
And then there's some that have a game-pad to the left that have a 3rd enter button.

Riot chat restricted me for 20 games so I decided not to say anything and just mute everyone until it was over and when it was done they gave me like 30 more, then 20 more, then like 80 more, then 100. or something like that. It was awhile ago but I even straight up streamed the last set and had videos (they're gone now) where the system would send me warnings for verbal harassment and offensive language in games where I LITERALLY DIDN'T SAY A WORD.

I'm really not. It was awhile back. I had been given (now that I checked) 30 chat restricted games to start with. Said fine, I won't say a word. I'm going to just start the game muting everyone (and even told them, it was the first thing I said) that I would mute and wasn't going to talk. Games would end and I'd STILL get warnings for negative attitude and verbal harassment. Those 30 games ended and I got more. Then those games ended and I got more. In the end I had 300 games chat restricted the final about 100 where I even streamed every game to PROVE I wasn't saying anything and still getting warnings.
Like, literally I had one game where the only thing I said in post chat was when someone said to report me and I said "Because I roamed because Jinx was bad?" and that was it and I got a warning.
Hell, I even had a Riot employee tell me that one of the initial reasons I was punished was for asking in all chat to report someone who actually WAS being toxic.
It took a lot of bitching and recording 100 games before I finally stopped seeing punishments which I think was purely because I had been constantly showing proof it was pure bullshit.

If you can't handle the bad words why did you turn off the filter in the first place? I've asked that question to at least 50 people who cried report over something I've said - not a single one of them has had an answer for my question. Some people like to be cradled and taken care of by their superiors, in this case players rather have daddy Riot spank the bad the player. The reporter then feels like they made riot proud by bringing such a bad soul into the light for Riot to punish. It's hilarious and pathetic.
On a side note, who cares about bans or perma-bans when we all know riot is too greedy to permaban by IP. You can just keep coming back, with more and more vengeance.

You're implying that a mute button solves the issue of a player who is regularly disruptive.
This is not the case and you are the type of person who would insist that the mute function is a reason to ignore others being disruptive.
