If you're down for a truly horrible movie that's still enjoyable (for me at least), Dracula 3000 is just one of those great watchable bad movies. Bloodrayne the movie has one of the best "SURPRISE... SEX" scenes. lol

Then there's Firefly and Serendipity. Starship Troopers (don't see 2-5). First Contact. Arrival. The Martian

Virus; the 1999 sci-fi thriller, definitely not kid friendly as there's excessive gore, but has a cool premise and great characters. The Thirteenth Floor, also in the same year, is more of a sci-fi mystery, and probably more prevalent now than it was then.
