So right now Fortnite has more than 2X as many viewers as League on Twitch. So what does that tell you?

It tells me that 100k people for some reason think ninja is worth watching which I fail to understand.

That

  • Overwatch had 32% market-share in Koreas gaming-cafes 2016
  • Overwatch has actually 7% market-share there
  • PUBG has 40% market-share now there
  • League had about 23% market-share in 2016 and actually (as for 3/2018) too

-- overall Leagues share within market is stable but the rest of the market isn´t and goes whatever is new and hyped.

Whenever a new hyped title is "on" and goes viral it will be this way. Just have a look 1 and 2 years later and we will see what is left.

My 2ct.

Stupid celebrity PR moves do that and the sheep will eventually go away

As did PUBG, the last fad before this game, did as well

That tells us Fortnite is currently more popular and trendy than League on Twitch atm.

And?

A free to play game that’s way easier to learn and master than league is getting more views during after school hours?!?!

This has never ever happened before!!!

Fad games keep Riot honest in pushing league to be the best it can.

Funnyhow when the World Cup is on suddenly hundreds of thousands of people are watching football. Funny how when the Olympics are on many people are watching that.

People aren't just going and burning their soccer fields after the world cup is finished. Those that watch nascar dont just bulldoze the track after the event is done. You just just stop watching. You may not be watching your usual programs during the main event, but when its over you return to your usual viewing.

Okay, and?

Ahri Baka4/5/2018, 1:02:38 PM1 votes

Yeah so what ? It's a boring game , not even worth watching the streams.

Risen294/9/2018, 7:43:38 PM1 votes

I don't see how it lasts at this level long term. It doesn't seem to have a lot of depth.

I've seen people talk about, and wondered if I noticed myself, that some of the streamers who switched to fortnight already seem to be getting bored of the game but continue to play it because that's what drives views for them.

It's arguable they were doing that for league for a while anyway, but I suspect league kept their attention a lot longer than a few months.

That you're trying to find any reason to say "League is dying" But you know damn well you cant provide enough evidence so you just try to say that because something is currently doing better than league that league must be dying.

"The number of dorks who watch other people play videogames on Twitch is a good indicator of whether a game is dying or not."

That you care to much about a fad.

Oh. In addition to my posting before I just had a closer look expecially belonging to twitch. It seems that there was a promo Twitch/Fortnite going on for loot beginning in march [Twitch Prime loot giveaway].

I had a look here: https://sullygnome.com/games/7/streamed

Seems concludent:

  • the peak viewers of the past 7 days were 394k (Fortnite) to 367k (League) now [close together].
  • For the time past 14 days [or concludent any longer period]: 862k (Fornite) to 367k (League)
  • whereas streamers/channels are about 6 times higher

And - for my other answer here in thread [also concludent]: Average viewers past 365 days League: 113.201 Average viewers past 7 days League: 120.282

So - what ....does.... this... tell... us?

League is very stable EVEN measured via viewers on Twitch and UNAFFECTED by rise or fall of other games like Overwatch, PUBG or Fortnite .

Can we close discussions and repeat this facts instead?
