Context on Nautilus PBE changes

On the PBE there is a bit of a bit of a change for the Titan of the Depths.

Base shield value lowered to 65/70/75/80/85 from 100/150/200/250/300 and Shield now scales on 7/9.5/12/14.5/17% of Nautilus's TOTAL Health from 15% of his BONUS Health.

I have been running some numbers about how this will effect his shield over the course of the game. It looks like it will be a small buff to his first ~4 levels and depending on the build a bit of a nerf to his mid game, and a large buff to his end game shield.

Anyone may correct me if I messed up my calculations, but if I ran them right, does anyone have any context why Nautilus is getting a nerf to his mid game? Is it a byproduct of the late game buff, or was this done intentionally? Or perhaps something else entirely?

It seems like it will be a very slight nerf to his level 5-9 game, but it largely depends on how much health you have. Generally, by that point of the game you haven't already reached a lot of health.

For the new shield to be better than the old, Nautilus needs 1265 total health, which is something he will most likely have from midgame onward( he reaches that alone by level 13, but considering we are talking about Nautilus, you must also consider runes and masteries.

late game, with a standard build the shield is about 150 stronger (3.5k health= 680 Shield, up from 525)

it's just a byproduct for his buffed early/late, and it actually frees nauti to max something else than W first, as his shield now scales with his base hp
