Now I know. Higher elo=more toxicity
Anyone can read about this sort of thing by browsing the boards, but now I have actually experienced it and I'd like to share.
I was in s4 for quite a while and I am now missing some of the casual/ more friendly experience I once had even though I am managing to climb a little.
Over the past month I have been fluctuating between 80+ s2 and gold promos. Been to gold promos twice and 99 points at S1 twice so far.
Here are some types of negative game play I have been seeing more frequently for this short/small climb:
Probably the thing that really chaps my thighs the most is people already throwing in the towel when games are still winnable. People saying ff and just acting like turds in a 4-9 game.
2nd place would be people in champ select absolutely refusing to play a certain role as last pick or just throwing a fit if they don't get the role they so badly wanted. A fine example of this is when I first picked lissandra mid blue team as that is my go to 1st pick. Reason being that I feel she has very little hard counters and less people picking her counters. Needless to say our 3rd or 4th pick raged about it and wanted to play ahri so badly. Was having a hard time csing against zed and was getting so much shit for it from this player. Turns out that come mid game I managed to make big plays. My usage of her ultimate and zhonyas along with my team got me a quadra kill and we started dominating team fights. Post game victory, this player still raged at me and said I was a nub. Rest of the team was quite friendly though.
End conclusion is that I can see how this behavior can increase as people climb. It's obvious that people care a lot more or they wouldn't be a higher elo to begin with. Just don't over care to the point of which you are making the game a bad experience for everyone else. Understand that champs scale differently, some people slip up, and games can be still winnable when things look bleak. Pick order is a thing and you are not always going to get the role you want. A lot of people want to play mid so it is very unrealistic for anyone to expect to play mid every single game. Do the best with the options you have. If you're a higher tier, then you should have more knowledge in other roles and possibly have a higher champion pool to choose from.
