So the new champion just got teased. It's a girl with sword feet and attack on titan grapple hook things. She stands on her hands so she can kick you. Four thoughts: 1) wouldn't be easier to have sword hands? 2) Won't she sink in the silt of the river with no surface area to stand on? 3) will boots lower her damage output? 4) more parkour?

As for how she turns out, I hope she's an assassin. Her whole comic is literally all about her assassinating a high-profile Zaunite baron. As much as I absolutely love Riot's recent additions and overhaul to the lore, there have been instances where a champion's presentation made them look completely different to how they play: Ekko, for example, is more of a light fighter in the lore, as he uses his Z-drive to try again and again, and his video depicts him dueling a vigilnaut, i.e. a tanky dude, but in practice he's an assassin whose long-cooldown ult is often used to kill.

Teridax685 votesI agree, he usually ends up playing much more like a fighter than an assassin, whether or not he builds for damage. He has a lot of the hallmarks of a light fighter, too: lots of situational defenses, persistent mobility, good DPS, a focus on autoattacks, etc. However, he was designed to be an assassin, which is also why he was given a high cooldown and a nuke on his ultimate.
Perhaps this is something for another thread, but I feel Ekko would likely be better off if his kit received further changes to shift him into light fighter space, and among those changes I'd really like for his ult to have a much shorter cooldown, at a cost to its nuke and perhaps to his power elsewhere. We already have Zed for assassins who go all in for the kill and escape by pressing a button for a 1000+ range blink; I think it would be much more interesting if Ekko were closer to how he was in the video, i.e. a relatively weak, scrappy fighter who'd rewind time to give himself another chance.

Partially because the the comic depicts her as an Assassin by profession. But also because we haven't had an Assassin in a while, not since Ekko, but we did recently get a skirmisher.

What is she? A woman with a tight-suit... yet with scissor legs... that's it.
Imagine if she wore a super fancy styled dress, a cool-looking top-hat (or bowler cap) and then have these cool scissor legs? It totally spices things up!
But NOPE. Riot goes for the plainest possible design (the scissor feet are unoriginal but pretty cool TBH, just so much potential wasted). I just hope her 1350 skin will look a lot better.

Someone on the boards suggested a Vi - like character with mechanical boots instead of gauntlets, complete with a kit similar to what it seems Camille is going to have anyway.
As with Kindred, Riot took a perfectly reasonable design and figured they didn't want to be accused of stealing this idea, so they changed it too much.
Apparently the much less reasonable sword-legs design was their writers', designers', and gameplay developers' best idea to replace boots. It also appears that one does not need to be necessarily good at spotting reasonable ideas, or coming up with similar but still reasonable ideas in order to work at Riot Games.

Well, you can't please everyone. If she had mechanical boots like in fan concept, many people would yell it is completely unoriginal because of Vi.
The Ecdysiast2 votesI didn't say Kindred was bad, just changed too much from an idea. The amount that original design---which didn't have abilities, mind you-- was changed was everything besides the color scheme.
Sword legs isn't just unoriginal-- it's stupid.
And it's perfectly fine to be "unoriginal" when the basis is one of their own characters, with a strong connection to the technology available in the lore. But in a city known for its technological and scientific advances being well above the rest of the world, sword replacements for legs are about as unfit as you can possibly get.
Hell, just stumps with no addition would make more sense than this.
And how is this "just my opinion"? This is very clearly based on the design given a few years back for a like champion, even down to the grappling hooks just replacing the animation of a leap suggested by the creator.
