Why are they changing the game so much?

I've played since season 1, but they are changing the gameplay so hard its not even funny.

  • PLants on the map (why)?
  • New rift herald (why)?
  • elemental drakes (why)?
  • Baron changes over the years (why)? *Huge champion overhauls (why)? champs being out dated wouldnt be a problem if they would stop nerfing/buffing things so hard and making new champs that have so much mechanics that it makes older champs obsolete ---- Camille Ekko Xayah Yasuo
the game used to be a lot more simpler, the kits used to be far more simpler as well.

I understand trying to innovate but its like every year they try to change the game dramatically. I got friends and family that quit or take a break, they come back to try it out and its like a completely different super snowbally game.

Because if it didn't change, you would get bored.

As new champions come out, old ones get overshadowed, have outdated visuals, audio, mechanics, and sometimes even old, messy code that can lead to issues.

The new stuff serves to make League more interesting, and give it more depth. The core of the game never changed - destroy the enemy Nexus. The only thing different are the tools you use.

I welcome change, just not complete overhauls to things in the game, they can be innovative to the point to where they dont need to make the game more snow bally.

None of the intentions are to make the game snowbally.

That might be an unintended side effect, but it's not what Riot wanted to happen.

Then you see the issue, they dont think big changes through. They add something thinking "Hey, this would be a fun and exciting mechanic." then the players see it as only helping the team that has advantage. While the rift herald and drakes add a chance to turn the game around it also adds the ability to not come back into the game. For example, say the enemy is ahead and get a mountain drake, you ace them and manage to take the next drake which is ocean or cloud drake, then oh wait they slay you and guess what the next drake is for the enemy? mountain or fire...its too RnG, while you can see the timers you cant predict what events will unfold. Ive had the enemy acquire 3 fire drakes... I miss the gold boost from killing the drake, while it yielded a chance to get an item it wasnt a permanent boost to tower killing, or permanent dmg to champs.

Yes it was. Gold is power. Gold translated into an item is a permanent boost to tower killing or to champions.

And it was boring. And it was more snowbally than Dragons are currently because it gave the entire securing team gold, which, if they were ahead, puts them even more ahead.

There's a myth that the new drakes a more snowbally. They're not. The power's just been transposed into a different and more interesting mechanic that creates a dynamic for both teams to play around. Your team get a mountain? Adapt around that and focus on objectives, maybe getting a fast Baron. Enemy team have three Clouds? Expect them to rotate a lot and splitpush, and counter that with a concentrated push while they're split.

while that is true its 300g, that champ may not be close to buying an item out while yes its a gold advantage 300g is roughly a kill it makes it a decent tool for coming back into the game, as for being ahead yes it helps toward your items but it becomes harder to build items the more items you already have due to slot space, and in solo queue how often is the game actually close enough to make gold difference be the deciding factor?

If we talk about the current state of the game, the old drake would undeniably be more snowbally than current. Instant gold is currently far more valuable than scaling % stats, especially given the emphasis on early-mid game (before you have enough items and base stats for those drakes to nearly guarantee victory)

However when the old drake was around, the game as a whole was significantly less snowbally than it is now. And thus lasted far longer (current drakes would be far more valuable in season 4 and prior than gold drake) Towers were fatter and stronger, there was more vision, less mobility, less damage overall especially via masteries.

You really did need allot of them if you were trying to come back. And because of the stall power at the time, it was better to spend time forcing towers down than drakes.

I don't disagree with you entirely. However calling old drake "more snowbally" just as a whole isn't entirely accurate. As the significance of the drake depends on what's more valuable at the time. Currently it's lots of dmg very quickly (gold drake valuable). Before with the ease with which you could stall, current drakes are more valuable.

Just a side note: you really overestimate the extent to which drake element influences how people play.

Drastic changes repeatedly out-dating old stuff also makes it boring. Why bother keeping up with something if it's just going to be reworked or replaced?
