Does blitzcrank even need items?
i feel like u can build literally anything you want on blitz and as long as u land grabs, no one would care

Of course you do.
40% CDR to piss the enemy team off even more.
Plus shit tons of mana. That way you can give them the feeling of almost killing you and then crush it with your 1,000 damage shield. They will hate you.
I take the fucking bait everytime i want to ult him as Darius, good lord, that's one passive i always forget to calculate my damage on...
One of my favorite things to do as Blitz XP. 'Oh look at me, chase me, I'm almost de- HA HA NOPE!'
And movespeed (for W). Gotta go fast.
isn't the whole point of a support to funktion well enough without items?!?
That's the point of a utility support (Blitz, Thresh, Braum). AP supports need items to be effective (Soraka, Sona, Orianna). Nami and Lulu probably skirt the line. (I haven't played the rest of the supports.)
i'm talking about the class support, not the role. You can play any champion in the support role, but many will need some gold which means they depend on snowballing. The support class funktions well enough with low gold, and thus is best suited for the support role(and jungle in the past), but since most supports also scale well on gold, even if they don't need it to funktion, they can also work on sololanes if their kit allows them to handle the lane(lulu, pre rework sora)

That's why he's a support.
Doesn't matter how many items he lacks, he still pulls his weight :P
Actually, he pulls your weight. ;)
*Enemies weight.
Ironic; Blitzcrank originally was a top laner.
AD blitz for life.
that's why he's played as support.... because he didnt need items in the old days to function (back when at 30 minutes the support would have like.... boots and a gold/10 items)

People can say what they will about the game in its current state, but that is one thing I do not miss about maining support back then.
Balance is better than it's ever been imo, but I never played back when things were blatantly overpowered.
Supports like Thresh and Blitz are designed to function almost wholly on their utility rather than stats, so items mean relatively little to them. They still have importance, but even their items usually start with utility items (the Support items are entirely based on assisting your allies through either MS boost, enemy slow, or health shield) and from there generally getting a Sightstone. So your first couple thousand gold are already being sunk into items that don't grant very good stats but give amazing team benefits.
That is how "Classic" supports are built and designed. Blitz's grab is so powerful and game changing by itself that it doesn't need a lot of power in terms of base damage or ratios.

More swords!
Blitz has a really versatile build. Old champions weren't usually designed to build specific items so there were different options for them to build. Now every champion is designed to build specifically X items...
AP cuz great ap ratios.
frozen heart + swiftness boots always in range for more fisting :^)
CDR and Mana.
So you can grab more Amumus into your team :D
random build thrown

Yeah that is for most supports, you use your skills properly you can build whatever you want.
Pretty much, same with Alistar and Janna, that's why people used to play them as roamers.
Movement speed CDR and mana
You are correct. If I ever had to win a game without items (well non-consumables anyway) I'd pick blitz for it. That said, he can get lots of extra utility from his build (there's something to be said for going fulltank and just wading into the enemy team after you use your combo, half the time they'll end up focusing you for no reason).
His scaling is just so strange:

So yeah it's strange. His kit makes sence that he should be building tanky but in some situations whe actualy see the entire opposite of that. I really want to see more mana scaling in his kit in the future. That scaling is just the things that makes him so unique in the utility role.
I still enjoy AD Critzcrank
and then either
or
Uppercut into ground pound Blitz has a great Crit animation hahah
Here is the optimal build for Blitzcrank to be a jack of all trades
- For the passive and AP ratios
- Slow after knockup, mana for passive, AP, and CDR, this ruins anyone's day if you go against Blitz
- Crit animation, run really fast, pressure increases because you can trample minions now
- Run moar faster, moar CDR, some AD for your crits
- Pray to the RNGods that your Thunderbolts hit someone you are chasing, so you can catch the cowards with the slow. Tankiness and AP
- Tankiness, AP thanks to Manamune and the last part of CDR

I can agree with this. Idc if you go top/jungle or adc blitz. If you are hitting grabs you are doing your job.
Build tons of mana, get 40 cdr, and ap
That is one of his strengths. As long as you can land your hook on priority targets(ie. ADC/APmid) then it doesn't really matter what you build.
The items, of course, will allow you to pose more of a threat, though. Getting max CDR makes it so you can spam hooks more and having more mana means you can throw out more hooks overall. You can also buy items to make yourself tankier so you can take hits and get aura items to benefit your team.
Or he's one of the few champs you can build multiple ways. Champs used to all have diversity with builds when scaling was limited to AP gg game is now let's all build the items / see who can build them faster to win the game lols. Riot has removed or reduced scaling on several champs who could be built multiple ways leaving for just plain boring games.
