The Lockout Between Kha'Zix's Evolved Ult Casts Makes No Sense
In case you aren't familiar with the champion, never noticed, or just don't evolve Void Assault often (I don't blame you), there is a two second lockout between each cast of Evolved Void Assault. With each stealth being two seconds long and the window to recast only being ten seconds total, that leaves you with an abysmal two seconds to use the final cast of Evolved Void Assault. This means that, if you didn't immediately use your second Void Assault cast, you'll often just lose the third.
Two seconds isn't much room for unique play making or capitalizing on various opportunities that could arise. For an ability that is already just "stealth for two seconds", that's pretty ridiculous. With the previous iteration of Evolved Void Assault, the active stealth could actually be cast mid passive stealth and that isn't even the main reason it was too strong. How did we go from "stealth every time you step in a bush" to "stealth once every two seconds, for two seconds, and get the last one stolen from you because you only have two seconds to use it"?
The last cast can't be saved for outplays, it can't be held on to for a quick escape, nothing. You got two seconds to use it or you evolved Void Assault for an additional .75 seconds of stealth per cast, or 1.5 seconds of stealth total.
Think about that for a second. Let's put it into perspective against Void Spike:
1.5 additional seconds of stealth...
or an essentially unavoidable skillshot with a 40-80% slow?
If Evolved Void Assault needs to be this weak (it has been pretty ridiculous in the past), then at least let us use it how we want. Even more so as we have to sacrifice one of the heaviest slows in the game to get it.
For anyone who didn't play during the earlier seasons, this two second lockout didn't always exist. In fact, it was only introduced because Kha'Zix had damage reduction on his stealth casts. The lockout was necessary at the time because it was a window of opportunity to take him down. In fact, when it was added, it was with the context that the lockout was a band-aid fix and the ult would need to be reworked.
So here we are. It got reworked nearly four years ago, the damage reduction is gone, and the two second lockout is not.
Why?
Is it because the balance team has changed membership and this fluidity destroying change has been forgotten about? Is it because you think a champion who relies on enemy misplays to thrive and struggles in grouped team fights needs even less survivablity in a meta that is about to be dominated by tanks?
The lockout needs to go, plain and simple. Honestly, it's shocking that it managed to stick around this long. Kha'Zix is sitting at around #15 in jungle pick rates with a win rate balancing between 48.5% and 51.5%. A fluidity buff isn't going to make him pick/ban. The window doesn't even have to go completely. Just bringing it back down to one second or so would be enough. Even half a second less than the current lockout would afford some additional time to make use of the evolution.
