Why not buy a

after your first recall?
I just think that melee support items should heal the user, not both.
Tank supports are SO awful early into the game now. Too weak even. And considering the stronger support is more likely to win bot lane for them, you'd wonder how this change made it into preseason. Can hardly do shit when you're getting poked down by a mage pick and you're at half hp in like 2-3 spells.
I thought the whole reason they moved away from that was to ensure that there WAS a counter to tank/engage setups.
Poke lanes > Tank lanes > Burst lanes > Sustain lanes > Poke lanes.
Let's not.
I like that I can punish tank supports now.
Only if they add the tiny amount of true damage back on the poke items for Spell thief line
Though honestly rather than focusing on how passive effects used to work, I'd rather them just make Support Items actually stop being a tax on your gold. The minion nerf AND the removal of gold gen upon completion makes these items feel awful to use. The power level of supports isn't bad right now but its redistributed in a way that just limits itemization and makes the role as a whole feel worse to play.
I don't really agree with this. A support isn't inherently meant to provide sustain to their carry. Many supports have heals built into their kit, which is actually an argument AGAINST having a heal also integrated into the item. The increased resistance, health pool, and crowd control that typically comes from a melee support is a generally good counter to the safety of poke supports. The carry will often built sustain of their own. Many carry champions will start with Doran's Blade. Just buff the healing from this and it should balance out.
