So what if we make a replacement for Devourer instead?

Not a Jungle item, mind you.

Just an item-item.

Something like, say, (item 1018 item 3122 item 1043). Gives some decent attack speed, good crit chance, OnHit magic damage, and a passive that causes OnHit effects to double-proc on crits. By linking the phantom hit to Crit Chance it would do several wonderful things all at once. It would put an end to Devourer/Bork/Tanky builds, it would punch Devourer Kayle in the ovaries, and it would seal the deal with Devourer being most effective on glassy champions like it should be.

Due to the strength of the effect, I would suggest making it a named passive, Augmented Critical. Infinity Edge would share the named passive to prevent them from stacking with each other and things getting a little too absurd.

So then what happens to devourer?

Attack speed farming junglers need some kind of item to help them, as for most they have zero lane pressure until level 6. And for pretty much all except for one, crit chance is not a viable build for them.

That would make no sense as most of the Devourer JGs don't even build crit at all. It would be a useless new item unless you plan to JG with Ashe , or Yasuo , who wouldn't even get much done anyway.

As usual I'm surprised by G&B's utter lack of comprehension, but maybe I shouldn't be.

This isn't a new Jungle item. This is a new general item. Devourer gets no replacement. It's a trap-option in LCS level play and it has proven to be overbearing in Solo. That isn't indicative of a healthy item.

Every single champ who builds Devourer can run Runeglaive, Warrior, or Cinder instead. Warrior could probably use some kind of scaling buff (bleed on physical damage kthx). The new Devourer (or whatever it would be called) would be a normal non-smite item to provide scaling for OnHit effects.

Wow... that actually makes it even worse now that I reread both your OP and reply. You're basically buffing Devourer, and giving it to AA-based champs that can't even JG an item that would make them ridiculously strong.

You'd make Caitlyn Vayne Yasuo Fiora Ezreal Irelia Jax Jinx Kalista Kayle MasterYi Tristana XinZhao MissFortune far stronger than they need to be, and a lot of these champs don't even need a single buff at all.

Not only that, but item 3072 , and item 3139 start becoming core, since you gave the best crit item item 3031 's lovely passive into a lower gold cost AA item for more diverse builds. Basically you're allowing the damage to be upkept, but give more peel, and defense at the same time.

I'm sorry but that's far less health than Devourer would ever be, and further strengthens that I see change making no damn sense.
