Share me some Vi tips, everybody.

You can see me playing Vi recently. While I somehow have been winning my games with Vi, with a very high win rate in fact, but it doesn't change the fact I was pretty much carried in each and every of those matches for the most part.

I seem to do die extremely quickly in fights as Vi, a lot of the time I die mid-ulti-animation even, if I go for the seemingly straightforward build of getting either red or blue jungle item with warrior enchant, triforce, and 3rd item with either deadmen, adaptive helm, or titanic depending on the situation. But then if I go tank builds for higher survivalbility, it more or less make me very much useless, or at least I feel like.

I think I manage early game with her fine, but not anything beyond that.

Tip for build and playstyles and any other things you might wanna share?

Thanks.

I'm not Vi player but I remember doing pretty well the few times I played her. Seems that item 3748 item 3078 are great items for her overall but I think you figure the same as well. That's all I have for you... lol.

I can say I had a pretty good experience using item 3147 with her. Btw, once it comes to jungle item enchants, in my opinion blue is the best way to go. I mained jungle for a while, achieving 5 lvl 7s while jungling, no matter the champ I used the blue enchant. It's a lot more useful for ganking, chasing, escaping, etc, because of that movespeed steal, it's just way more productive than the damage bonus from the red.

I have not tried Duskblade on her just yet, it went over my head. Nice mention, I will get a couple runs when I get the chance some time.

That said, my biggest concern is mostly the sustain aspect of it. Idk where I did wrong, but my Vi always die almost instantly as soon as a fight involve more than 3 or so people. Maybe it's the Runes? I used Domination + Precision after all; maybe Domination + Resolve?

Hmm... Idk.

Dont bother w duskblade, expensive and doesnt proc that often on her. Even titanic is a waste being super expensive and does the same thing as her low CD E. Open warriors then decide if you need to tank up or do damage. Damage path pick triforce or black cleaver then start tanking up. If you go w more damage items from here without getting some resist or HP items you'll just get blown up as soon as you dash in

Dont open ganks with Q and especially do not pre-charge up the Q as you're going in - makes you super slow and easy to get away from. Walk up to them first then Q as they try to dash or flash away. it's also your escape if the gank goes badly

Runes go with electrocute for more damage, especially since your E is an auto reset you can AA - E - AA super fast for a huge burst, then R or Q as they try to get away. In a teamfight open up with R, punch a bit then Q to get out if needed. Vi is frontload burst heavy. After she uses all her abilities you need to get out or get killed. Having your Q up to get out lets you hit & run, get some E charges and passive shield back up then go back in for round 2.

Vi isn't a tank, she's a diver.

In more drawn out terms: Once team fights roll around, ulting into the enemy team as an initiation will - if everyone turns on you - invariably result in death.

The solution to this is to have other divers / tanks. Multiple divers going in at the same time usually splits focus, and / or a tank starting a team fight allows you to do your job without eating every single instance of damage and CC from a fully prepared team.

Alternatively, you can go super tanky. One of the good things about dive junglers is that they tend to dominate the early game. Xin, Vi, J4, and others like them are nightmarish gankers and can really, really own the game upto - and a little beyond - the end of the laning phase. For this reason it can be worth simply going warrior > full tank. If you've been doing great the enemy team will still focus you on reflex, and you'll be a threat, but you'll be able to function semi decently as your team's sole initiator and tank.

Vi Is a bruiser. She's not as tanky than other bruisers so I would not recommend you to play tank with her.

Tip:

  1. She needs either item 3078 or item 3071 for to get some dps.(Get item 3053 to associate with them)
  2. Abuse the pasiv which scale with health but can help you in a lot of duels.
  3. She shines in non 2v2 fights and AD as allied because her W is a great synergy.
  4. It is possible to Q then flash but it's to hard to master.

As for playstyles, the closer you're from the ennemies, the easier it is to do your combo so find a way to sneak up ennemies and keep the Q only to inturupt.

Some good tips here. I will pay attention to the builds, Q-flash thingy (just to confirm, by that you mean charging Q, flash, then release for extra range?), and your mention of trying to hold Q for interrupt.

What I meant is you can charge Q > release > flash > hit it anyways. But yes it works boths ways, you can always charge Q> flash > release. -> The first one is more likely to surprise someone you thought of side steped the things (Agaisn't a Gragas with his E) -> The second is more clear engage and easier to proc

As for myself with a little Support's experience, I hold spell not for surprise but to be sure I have control of the situation and so I sometime hold the Q with Vi to proc the pasiv or to inturupt channel like Sion 's Q or like Amumu while he's grabing someone.

Your E also increases your auto attack range, so you can use it to get the last hit on enemies that are running away.

Some mechanical stuff aside from general tips people have mentioned.

  • Her E is an auto attack reset, meaning during combos and farming it is more efficient to auto attack, then immediately press E for the reset.

  • You can flash during your Q channel, meaning that during ganks you are able to hold Q, flash, then immediately release Q. This way it gives the enemy less reaction time than if you flashed forward and then attested to channel Q.

  • Vi's R cancels CC. If you time it correctly, you can cast R right as you are about to be CC'ed and break free. I've used this once to block a Warwick ult (flashed in front of carry, ulted another enemy has warwick hit me instead of carry).

this is how, you build bloodrazor and titanic hydra into tank, you max W then Q. clear super fast and get all the drakes, gank everytime someone steps up, split and go yeet at anyone who tries to 1v1 your ass.
