Something always bothered me about the prices of rune pages over the years...

And today I figured out what it was. Needless to say, I was quite slow. The IP price of a rune page is 6300 while the RP price is 590 RP. But according to unofficial Riot conversion rate, 6300 is the equivalent of 975. And this isn't the first time this has been brought up (References: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/PhlUWGAl-590-rp-is-not-6300-ip-rune-page-cost-inequality and https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/25sjt5/why_is_that_new_rune_pages_cost_590_rp_but_6300/). It almost seems like Riot wants people to spend RP instead of IP, hmmmm, nahhhh. Riot would never do that. I mean come on, this is Riot we are talking about, they are the epitome of kindness.

Because if the server's aren't running, people can't play, and won't pay. So yes Riot has to keep THEIR servers running. That is THEIR responsibility. If Riot had more character and better respect on an employee level I might feel inclined to help keep the game afloat. But the with the state of the game and the disgusting personal interactions I've had with Rioters in e mail, I couldn't give a dead moose's last shit about any of their problems.

And how do they keep the servers running? How do they pay the electrical bill for them?

I see you had some personal problem with support staff members, but it's just that. Personal. Your issues have nothing to do with financial realities of any business.

Would you prefer if they made it on par with champions and made it 975 rp? No, you wouldn't. Because then even less people would be able to afford it.

How do you gain IP? By playing the game. What do you consume while playing the game? Time. Therefore you spend time to get IP. Therefore IP isn't free. Law of equivalent exchange even though in this case, the value of IP is minute compared to that of time.
