It's definitely a neat idea. Cycling though featured game modes on the weekends will definitely allow players to get the new feel for game modes. Also allows new players to experience game modes that they may have missed in the past.

My only real concern is, Will the existence of the rotating game Q, get in the way of supporting other (longer term) featured game modes? Speaking mainly about featured game modes tied to events, like Ascension or Black Market Brawlers. I would feel like such events wouldn't feel as good if Riot couldn't support a featured game mode, along side those event. (while maintaining the random Q at the same time.)

I think this is a really awesome idea. Having the game modes cycle throughout the year (multiple times, as they said that URF will show up at least twice this year) means that those people who happened to just join — and in turn just miss those events, which in turn becomes a huge turn-off — will be able to play those events sooner than they would otherwise. Pretty much turning "Oh you missed it? Better luck next year, here have a cookie and wait until the holidays." into "Oh you missed it? Here, we'll give you another chance pretty soon so please stay and enjoy this next game mode!" Also, it's just really fun for us veteran players. Especially for those of us — not necessarily me — who end up being so preoccupied with doing other things that we're incapable of logging on League. Our soldiers-in-training at Boot Camp in the military, for example, find that they can't play this game mode because it only airs once a year and that's when they're training to protect our country and its ideals. This way, at least they'll be able to join in later this year instead of the next. It also shuts up a lot of the Leagenazis, since now they can't say Riot isn't giving them "the Experience they deserve" without simply being an ungrateful bastard. Just thought I'd say it.

Well they always said that this was their plan with the featured game modes,I'd say it was about time that they become a standard part of the game.

Honestly I'm not too thrilled with how it sounds like it's going to work. sure we get the fun extra modes, champ mastery for all rotation modes and we will have something other than ARAM to go to if we get tired of SR (cause honestly, who plays TT), but it sounds like we are losing special events in the process. If the Bildgewater event didn't have The Blackmarket Brawlers and Butcher's Bridge, It would have been essentially just an overhyped 4 walls of text with a champ rework tacked on. At this point it doesn't even sound like anything is going to happen for April Fools day or for any other holiday from now on for that matter. All we might end up with is discounted skins and a new login screen and even that might be pushing it.

see now THIS is a damn decent idea. Unlike all the shit that's going on with SR right now. I need more than ARAM to cleanse myself of that emotional and mental battering they call a balanced mode.

I had my fun when it was first released and ppl couldn't exploit things, I had my perfect score (Playing as Xerath ftw) and I don't want to ruin those memories. I welcome most of the others fun modes though.

I wonder if we're gonna be able to gain special icons corresponding to featured mode, like Ascension icons... Otherwise, it's a great news, finally I'm gonna try out Doom Bots, and, like OP, I'm gonna enjoy playing Ascension again.
