Truly unpopular opinion: Yorick was never 'weak' and he deserved the nerf.

He wasn't picked much, sure. But he was damn strong. In lane you build up 4 ghouls and just completely shit on almost everyone there. And if you're punished for trying to get a ghoul, you would simply Q them with Grasp proc and you'll probably outdamage them. And if you're attacked with 4 ghouls? lol, you just got a kill. Yorick beat Darius, the super strong unduelable lane bully. When that happens, you know damn well he's strong. Was that just a cop out to nerf Yorick? i dunno. but he could easily outduel a majority of the toplane roster. And then lvl 6 comes by and you just auto-win. If you landed a good cage (which isn't hard) and you ulted, boy they dead as hell. That still applies to post-nerf Yorick anyway.
Once late game comes and everyone's team fighting mid, you can just split to the end of the Earth. If they don't stop you, RIP their inhib. If they do stop you? It'll take more than 1 person and at that point the rest of your team can push in mid while you 1v2 and take someone with you. also i'm just saying his winrate is over 50%, even if it's only 50.14. used opgg.
