Why would shields 1) go away ever and 2) give the enemy gold?

Y'all are basically forcing turrets to die at 14 because the shields go away. and if the enemy laner got 4 shields which is very probable then they get a shit ton of gold and then 14 rolls in and it's a mad dash to get first turret, which they will likely get. Why would you compensate turret 'buffs' at all? They've needed buffs the whole time but the one time you do it, you have to compensate by letting people get free gold off it? What's the point then? also turret diving is still a thing and hasn't been stopped by the turret damage 'increase' that apparently happened.

Let the shields last until 20 min and decrease the gold they give to 100 from 160.

Turrets will last longer and people won't get massive amounts of income from you backing once.

Riot is taking a heavy-handed approach to enforcing game length. This is a logical continuation of changes that were made in Season 8.

There is reluctance from a laner to take a tower "too early". Once the tower is taken, farming becomes unsafe, ganks become much more likely. Many laners will proxy, or roam, to avoid having the enemy tower fall before they have farmed sufficiently.

This game element conflicts with Riot's goal of standardized game length.

Tower plating is an attempt fix this. Now, the gold from the tower plating compensates for the lost CS, IF the tower is taken sooner. (Of course, this still hurts stacking champions like Nasus, and even Garen.) This further gets away from CS being a meaningful approximation of income.

Tower plating was never about lengthening games, or even lengthening laning phase. It's about making sure that long games don't occur.

Would that they had instituted these changes only for pro play.

I'm just gonna leave here that every turrets buffs or changes to make games last longer are adc buffs.

Cant wait for when Rito finally slows the game as you guys ask just to see the Gameplay Boards complain day and night about only botlane wins.

Turret plating gives gold to reward early agression and progress towards taking tower. Also means you are rewarded for doing something pre 14 mins instead of just waiting until 14 to take towers.

Turret plating falls off to ensure games continue and end about where riot wants them to end.

Give the shields to every turret except nexus, give only a small amount of gold when the FULL shield is destroyed, give turret lasers to turrets without shield and give the option for inhib towers to regrow a shield / lost plates over time if the tower still stands

Because they were specifically added to only make laning phase longer and laning phase should not be lasting up to 20 minutes

Turret plating, if you know about 'slow pushing' deters minion denial and slow pushes in the early stages of the game, usually before the tower itself falls.

Before this patch, you were able to build up a decent wave so when your enemy laner would recall, the minion wave would 'crash' meaning they there would be no enemy minion wave to stop them, your minion wave could do a fair bit of turret damage and also deny your enemy laner the potential gold and EXP that large wave would have given. This was a tactic the help fall towers in the early game.

Now with turret plating, if you want to be able to take towers, you're gonna have to stay and destroy the plates 1 at a time with your minions. Which is a cost in of itself seeing as you don't necessarily have the time to recall and purchase items with the gold you were granted from destroying a plate. Whereas your enemy laner had the time to reconstitute, purchase items (and therefor comabtive stats) and have lane priority over you. If you were to recall you might lose a plate equal to that of what you have taken OR they would take 2 plates since they have more combative stats to take them down faster than you were able to before you recalled. This also puts the enemies in position to drake or herald if need be.

The concept of the plates is screwed up, indeed. Her is what I would have done with the concept:

Plates do not have armor and their own health bar. Once e certain moment (Let it be 14 minutes for all I care) the turrets consume the remaining plates gaining resistences or damage reduction per plate. Or maybe if you wanna make it more exciting let each plate give a specific buff. Like one increases damage dealt, one give damage reduction, mabye one slows enemies hit and one increases the attack speed of the turret, to give some examples.

That way you would have a reason to take down the plates without gaining gold, because you do not wanna have to deal with whatever buffs the turrets get at the X minute mark.

And if you wanna go a little further with the "turrets consuming" concept of that whole thing, you could prevent the game from slowing down too much, by letting the T1 and T2 turrets each drop at a certain time and the turrets behind them gain buff should they not have been destroyed. But that is just an extra I came up with just now.

Imagine winning game, but because you ignores botlane their Inhib Turret deals true damage slows you AND has the stoneplate active as passive.

I'd reduce the gold to 250g/400g for first, and let plating remain whole game.

Current values could be fine-ish, if the plating remained whole game, for the comebacks and/or create the incentive to also defend remaining outer turrets - maybe setting up for interesting rotations and the like. Could see some kind gold funneling happening though, since current turret plating gold rewards are absolutely massive...

The gold part is so that you can punish your opponent laners if they spend all their time ganking without tp or other means of coming back to lane fast.

Honestly, the shields should function like an actual shield. Currently, when you kill the fifth plate, the entire tower crumbles. Instead, once the fifth plate is destroyed, the tower should stand at full health.

SuffocateMeDaddy11/22/2018, 4:46:03 PM1 votes

The reason why it gives a gold is to make these champs Anivia Lux Jax Brand Darius etc etc, useful against these champs Zed Taliyah AurelionSol Camille. Game finally rewards you for your lane resiliency and pushing instead of punishing you for you pick choice. Last entire season was about mid roaming bot lane to snowball the carries. ENTIRE FUCKING SEASON OF SAME SHIT.

Metallikaiser11/22/2018, 4:46:23 PM1 votes

I like the gold, because it gives a reward to hard pushers and bullies who arent able to get first turret easily anymore. However, I have no idea why the shields on outers would ever go away, it seems unneeded to me.

Horrible Human11/22/2018, 8:43:55 PM1 votes

Still waiting for the day that turrets do more than tickle after level 5 or so. lol

Mitzillfi11/23/2018, 7:25:59 AM1 votes

The point of the turret changes was to not loose your tower when u leave Lane and jungler and top shows up to the tower opening the map and fucking up scaling champs hard. If they make it last for 20 min not not give as much gold it will be a form fest and scaling champs will be broken esp in high elo where they can complete 2+ items becuase of their C's
