How do you get the motivation to queue for ranked?

Right now I'm gold 2 around 40lp. I have about a 50% win rate. My performance nearly every game is excellent. Obviously, it could be better, but I'm not failing.

Unfortunately, it seems like no matter how well or mediocre I do it has no bearing on the outcome of the game whatsoever. It all comes down to the quality of teammates I get which just seems like RNG.

Here are my recent four games:

1.) Every lane won, we won the game. 2.) I dominated my lane as support but our adc built wrong, positioned poorly, our mid lost insanely hard, and our top was afk. We lost.
3.) Our top lane fed first blood, teleported back in and fed second blood 10 seconds later, and raged the entire game. We lost. 4.) Good team, we won.

I've experienced this back and forth of useless versus useful teammates for about 30 games now. I'm just not motivated to queue anymore.

I have some friends who play with me once in awhile. One is a diamond II jungler, the other is a diamond I mid. Neither can carry in high gold/low plat elo consistently. So the idea I should simply "play better" when diamonds can't consistently carry is just a bogus argument. It really feels like it's just RNG.

Perhaps over a large sample size of games (hundreds) my own consistently positive performance would allow me to climb, but that seems pretty miserable.

Before you ask, I primarily play Morgana, Malz, Veigar, and Karthus mid. Of these picks Karthus and Veigar probably have the best carry potential, but in the current meta would still instantly die to a 0/12 zero cs Rengar.

How do you get motivated to play League of RNG?

I get motivated by the fact that the only other competitive game I can play is csgo and in that game I swear to god I’m the only player who doesn’t cheat lol so i can either play a game where I have 0 chance of winning: csgo, or a game where I have a small chance of winning if I get a good team: league. Guess which one I choose

You are around the same MMR as me. I am in promo's for Plat V (1W, 1L so far)

If you take the AFK's and deliberately inting team mates out of the equation (those should account to a very small portion of games). This will leave you with games that are easily stompable and thrown only by bad plays that you make, and games where you make mistakes and alot of what happens can be attributed to something you did wrong.

I stopped caring about what my team mates are doing as they are impossible to control outside of chat, If you are performing on point and they see it, they will listen most of the time. You have to think about what to do when the game isn't going your way.

Now obviously if your top laner or ADC are 0/5 after 10 minutes then it will be a very hard game, not impossible but hard. In those cases just remember these things:

  1. These players are in your elo bracket, they are as good as or as bad as you are.
  2. NEVER flame them, one good play can swing the mood of a bad player and they are back on track to help win.
  3. Ask yourself what could you have done better. Did you make a play and a team mate joined in dieing in the process? (Don't make the play) Why did it fail, did your team mate have no ultimate, were his summoners down?
  4. Play like nobody else matters except you. Over a long stretch, every mistake you don't make, starts to turn into positives in EVERY match.

Last night (My last game) I lost despite being 5/0 after 15 minutes because I made the decision to gank botlane who were not particularly good. I made the assumption I could still kill them, being squishy and immobile (Brand/Jinx). I died a few times to bot, accelerating their lead even further losing us the game.

The correct plan would be to ignore them and concentrate on mid/top or were doing OK, taking herald and more towers, making pressure elsewhere on the map, forcing the botlane to react or lose the game.

I watched my replay afterwards and know exactly why I lost the game and what I could have done better, this is what you have to do.
